Quick note from future me after writing this: This is 28 pages in Google Docs. I went into a lot of detail apparently so I hope you appreciate my efforts.
There are quite a few things to consider when deciding on a college and a major. My high school did activities with us every year to help us choose a college and not necessarily a major but ideas on what we wanted/want to be. Of course, not every high school does this. So I'm going to divide this part up into sections or something like sections to help you guys figure out and what to consider when deciding on a college and/or major. Also, anything you decide now can change before you graduate or even when you're in college, and that's 100% okay. I changed what I wanted to go to school for a few times when I was in high school. My freshman year I decided STNA (state tested nurse's aide) that would require like a month of classes and certification test to be. Then my sophomore year I decided on nursing, which is a 4-year degree. Finally, my junior settled on physician assistant, which is a 4-year bachelor's degree and then another 2 years in physician assistants school to get a master's degree. But, I'll walk you guys through on things to consider when choosing a college/university and/or major (and maybe minor since I recently decided on mine).
Aptitude
It helps if you have an aptitude for the area you're going into. My freshman year of high school we had to take an aptitude and personality test (I don't know why a personality test, but it wasn't the Myers Briggs one, which is great by the way). My sophomore year we researched majors. My junior year we researched colleges (which I had already done). Then, my senior, we learned more information about admission and applications and financial aid. But anyways, I found some online so I'll post one below (like right after I finish this paragraph) and how to score it. I think this is the one my school gave me. I'm not completely sure though because it was my freshman year.
* You can choose as many as you want from each box. *
* You're going to have to add the number before the statement/choice you choose. You'll want to write these numbers (or remember them which I would not recommend because there's a lot) and what box they came from. *
