We're a Little Weird, But That's Okay

Writers do some weird shit. If you seriously sit back and think about it, we do weird shit. It's not really normal by anyone's standards but our own.

1. Hygiene

At times it's not that good. Especially mine isn't from the end of band camp in June through when band camp starts back up in August (I might be a little better this year because I have a job to go to).

What do I mean by hygiene though. Sometimes my hygiene habits are pretty bad because I get distracted by writing or reading or both. Sometimes I forget I need to shower. Sometimes I forget to out deodorant on. I usually don't put on a bra (and if I am wearing on while I'm writing at home I take it off). I usually don't wear pants either when I write. I don't really like wearing pants in general though. I wear what I wear to bed to write. I write in my bed so that might be why I do that.

2. Food

I generally forget to eat during my writing schedule. I haven't really eaten in the past 3 days and I haven't really worked on writing since Saturday like a chapter at least (I edited on Sunday and I was gone all day yesterday).

I don't even eat all the time after I realize I haven't fucking eaten all day. I usually just drink some water and call it good.

3. Night

I tend to write more at night. It's quieter at night. My siblings aren't up to be making a shit ton of noise, my mom isn't bugging me, I don't have to go to work, I don't have band, in the school year I don't have school. Do I sleep a lot? No. But there is a reason for that and it's not because of writing and reading.

The medicine I take for my ADD/ADHD causes insomnia because it reduces the amount of melatonin in my body. Melatonin is the hormone your body produces that helps your brain distinguish when you should be sleeping and when you should be awake. It's produced at night so that's why you get tired. Back to the topic at hand ---->

Why do I write at night according to scientific evidence? Studies suggest that more intelligent and creative people go to bed at later times. So people would usually say I'm a night owl (hence my writing/reading tumblr account url) and not a morning person. They're kind of wrong, I'm also a morning person. As I've mentioned I don't really sleep a lot.

4. Mood

My mood depends hugely on my writing. By what the fuck is happening in my story, my writing habits. I get pissed off as fuck when I don't write or read a lot. I'm generally in a good mood when I do write and read a lot. People at school tend to notice this. Not that they know I write, no one there does. But I have less time to write and read during the school year so I get pissed off all the fucking time and I'm fucking depressed (for other reasons as well). That may be why people told my best friend that I'm scary. I literally scare people at school because I don't talk and I don't smile. But that's beside the point.

Pretty much if something depressing happened in my story, I'm depressed. If something fucking awesome as fuck happened, I'm fucking pumped.

5. Friends/Family

I kind of have a mental break down when a friend or family member says they want to spend time with me because I have to entirely rearrange my writing/reading schedule. Why are my friends and family being so inconsiderate of my plans already? (Note the sarcasm because some people have an inability to notice sarcasm.)

6. Leaving

I stay at home all the time. Why? I'm busy writing/reading. It's harder to do that when you got to leave the house. I tried reading on the "road trip" with my friends yesterday and my friends got pissed at me.

If you do leave the house, be an introvert. Headphones and sunglasses. People tend to not bug you then.

7. Everywhere

I bring either my book or something to write on with me everywhere. I usually bring my book. I bring my book to band even if I know I'll only have 5 minutes to read. Those 5 minutes are important to them.
