Mafu lied down on his bed, his head supported by his pillow. He turned his body to his sides, trying to sleep. Even without checking with a thermometer, Mafu was aware that his body temperature was gradually rising, and that it would get worse tomorrow. He hated being sick especially when it was the time of the month but it was not bad this time, even though it was not getting any better either.

Thanks to the person behind this wall.

He lifted his hand, a little hesitant at first, but still knocked lightly on the wall with his knuckles.

"... Hmm?"

"Please rest," Mafu told him, knowing that he was exhausted from the sound he just made. "You don't need to go this far for me,"

"No, it's alright,"

"... But..."

"I'll sleep when you do, don't worry,"

Mafu pouted, unhappy at the fact that he had to listen to what the man had to say. Yes, he was sick, and he needed the rest for his body to have the chance to recover. But that did not mean he wanted a man he barely knew, who lives beside him, to do so much for him when it was really, his problem. It would only warm up whatever that was left lying frozen for years in him, melting it, to teach Mafu to once again rely more on other people when he was in need.

And he did not want that. If people were to feel troubled, he would never want to be the cause of it. Mafu wanted to be the type of person who could stand up and offer a hand when someone needed it. Just like this neighbour of his.

If only Amatsuki was at his place at this time, at this moment, his neighbour did not have to wait for him to fall asleep.

Things could not be kept the way it is. Mafu quickly closed his eyes, praying that he would just fall asleep already but there was just no way. He was physically tired, but mentally awake. He sighed deeply, turning his body so that he was on his back this time, covering his eyes with his forearm.

The low, gentle voice could be heard again from behind the wall all of a sudden. "Is there really no way for you to sleep?"

"... No,"

He sighed before he said, "Do you want me to tell you a story?"

Mafu sprang up from his bed, slamming his palms on the thin wall. "Yes! Yes, please!" he said, excited to hear the man offer to talk him to sleep.

"Calm down," said the man. "Please don't break this wall. I don't want a hole that connects your room to mine,"

"Right, I'm sorry," Mafu could not help but agree. Not especially at a time like this, when his room was filled with his pheromones that smelled like a mixture of honeysuckle and oranges. "On second thought, please don't. I couldn't possibly trouble you any further,"

"I already said that it's fine," the man gave him a knock on the wall, just like what he did just now to reassure him, to not worry about it. "Get under your blankets, close your eyes. Do you hear me?"

"Okay," Mafu giggled, he enjoyed talking to this mysterious man behind this wall of his. He pulled on his blankets, lied back in his bed, and closed his eyes as he was told. "I'm ready," he announced so that the man could start telling his tale.
