A few weeks passed and June is about to end. Dana was here to support Irvin and me.
He was so casual to me the next day habang ako naman ay mamatay-matay sa pagka-awkward sa kanya. He told me that he was fixing something when he called me.
From then on ay madalas na siyang mag-text sakin. He's really nice and funny.
"Hey! Brother!" tawag sakin ni kuya. Lumapit naman ako sa kanya.
"What?" tanong ko.
"I just want to say goodluck!" sabi niya sabay tapik sa balikat ko.
"I know you can do it," sabi bigla ng isang boses sa likod ko. I turned around and almost jumped in shock. It was Kishou.
He looked at me from head to toe. His eyes ran through my white shirt and lingered a bit on my black volleyball shorts. I hastily put my hands in front of me.
"Goodluck," he said, smiling widely at me.
"You're in talking terms with Kishou?" gulat niyang sabi sakin.
"Why? He's my Kuya Grey's classmate and friend. Nagkakilala kami nung pasukan. May mali ba?" tanong ko naman.
"He's really famous here in Emerald, you know. Aside from his killer looks, he's also a killer inside the basketball court," tulalang sabi ni Dana.
"Yeah, whatever," I said boredly.
"Hey, you're supposed to stay with us- oh, nevermind," sabi ko dahil nakakuripas na nang takbo si Dana palayo sakin.
Biglang pumito yung isang coach. Agad naman kaming lumapit sa kanya.
"Form two lines, everyone. I'll check the list. You can only proceed if your name is here," sabi ng coach.
"Give way," sabi sakin ng isang lalaki. Mukhang may kasama siyang isang grupo.
"Hey!
"We're in the line. We didn't do anything wrong. Why did you even push me?" tanong ko naman sa kanila.
"Are you sure you're joining the volleyball team?
"Let's go, Irvin. Don't fight with him.
"But Red-"
"Don't stoop down to his level, Irvin. Tara na-"
Pero bigla akong hinarang nung lalaki.
"To my level?
