The next two weeks were bitter sweet. Almost every day I was with Alyssa and Ben trying new things and going new places. We would go hiking, try new restaurants, and visit new towns. I made sure to have as little time as possible to think about Luis. The last two weeks without Luis have been a lot more fun than I could have ever imagined. Alyssa, Ben, and I were doing pretty much everything together. However, school starts tomorrow and having to face everyone was going to be hard. With a text good night from both Ben and Alyssa I fell asleep making sure to keep my mind from wondering to Luis.

Well, senior year has finally arrived! My last year of high school. Going to a private school, I put on the unflattering pants and button up top and grabbed my bag before walking to the car. David, wearing the same colored uniform as I jumped into the passenger seat and threw his backpack into the rear of our father's small Toyota. The drive to school was filled with traffic as always, but we arrived on time to get to the beginning of the school year presentation. The moment I walked in the door I knew that this was the first time I was walking through these doors without Luis. The two closest people to me at the time had both graduated and I only had a small senior class of 14 people to socialize with every day.
I grabbed my seat next to Bradley, the closest friend I had at St. John's. .
"Teres-Teres." He greeted as he put his arm around me.
"Hi Bradley Rogers." I laughed as I returned his friendly greeting.
"How was your summer?"
"It was good!" I was determined to figure out what everyone knew before I were to bring it up to any of my friends. "How was yours?"
"Boring! Why didn't you hang out with me?"
"Why didn't you ever come hang out with me?" I jokingly backfired.
He ran his boney fingers through his jet black hair and leaned back into his seat. "You got a point."
James came and sat on the other side of me. For being a small school it was obvious that we cared for each other, or at least gave the impression that we cared for each other.
"James!" Bradley practically yelled. "My man. How are you?!" James stood up to greet Bradley as he was practically on top of me trying to hug one another. I always found it amusing how these two reacted with each other. James was young and Bradley was outgoing. It was a combination that went together perfectly. James would follow whatever Bradley did, but with a more pure heart.
Everyone in my class sat in the last row behind the rest of the high school students as the principal went up onto the small stage at the front of the room. As she was making her way up the stairs, the large metal door on the side of the auditorium slammed closed. I looked over to see Logan, one of the graduating seniors walking towards the row of students. The rest of the students turned their attention back to our principal, but I couldn't manage to take my eyes off of him. His chin was hidden by the brown beard he was finally allowed to wear to school. His brown hair was a perfectly managed messy. His uniform was covered by a grey sweatshirt that hugged his body so perfectly to see the newly formed stiff edges he had formed over his summer in California. He walked as if he had no cares in the world. I don't know what it was about him today that made me look as if he was someone I was only meeting for the first time. The way he walked towards the row of seats so confidently made it seem like there was no one else in the room.
He took the seat right next to his girlfriend, Anna. Anna, another one of the seniors in my class, was the girl that all the teachers liked and all of the students respected. At a small school everyone had their secrets and skeletons known. Anna wasn't perfect, but she was as close to perfect as you could get. She seemed to have it all. She had the confidence to state and stand by her opinions and the will power to go after what she wanted.
The previous year, Anna and I had been in a fight over Luis. It was stupid, but I was jealous because of the time she was spending with him. We got into an argument where everything came out and afterwards we decided to respect each other and have established a friendship that all the seniors shared.
"Welcome back!" Principal Kathy expressed more enthusiastically than any of the students were ready to hear. "We have some new additions to the teaching staff and I expect you to treat them with the respect..."
"So what kind of schedule you got this year?" Bradley said nudging my shoulder trying to keep his voice as low as he could to make sure no one heard him.
"I have classes all the way up until lunch." I whispered back.
"Rude! I have classes all the way up to lunch and at last period." At St. John's you were allowed to leave after your last class was finished if you were a senior.
"Who is your last period teacher?"
"Mr. Reynolds."
"Oooh. Sucks for you!" Mr. Reynolds never let anyone out of his class a minute early so there was no way Bradley could sweet talk his way out of staying for a whole day!
"You are dismissed!" Principal Kathy announced. All of the students in front of us stood up and walked away. The seniors stayed seated waiting for the senior class councilor to bring us our responsibilities for prom and all the other things seniors had charge of for the year. Once all the students below us had left the seniors gathered around the tables at the back of the room and started to talk. I walked to the tables with Bradley and James as they talked about some girl Bradley had saw while on a cruise. Right as I sat down, Logan walked over, leaving Anna at the other end of the table to talk to some of the other senior girls.
"Logan Clark!" Bradley said while jumping into Logan's arms. Logan and Bradley were inseparable. They shared a weird kind of bromance that no one could ever understand. Logan doesn't say much. Probably the entire time I have gone to this school there have only been 4 words that have come out of his mouth. Bradley begins to laugh hysterically as Mr. Reynolds walks towards the group shaking his head at the bromance unfolding in front of his eyes. Even Mr. Reynolds knows that the weird friendship between Logan and Bradley couldn't be stopped.
"Alright, so Mrs. Sharp is going to be the one to talk to about all the fundraising you guys have to do this year. Otherwise it has to come through me before you decide to do anything." Mr. Reynolds was the buff teacher none of the students even thought about messing with. "She's in a meeting right now so you guys get to your first periods."
"Carry me there, Logan?" Bradley asked with a puppy dog face. Logan rolled his eyes and let out a small laugh. His whole appearance seemed completely different when he smiled. A difference that was unexplainably good and made him seem more of an actual human being than his usual to himself quiet.
"Don't carry him there." Mr. Reynolds inserted as he was walking away. All the seniors had Mr. Reynolds for first period except for Anna. I claimed my seat in the back row against the wall. There were new art tables that replaced the desks that were there the previous year. Bradley grabbed the seat right next to me and James the seat next to him. Straight across from the table Logan took his pick of the seat. Of course he did! There was something different about him and I knew that I had to stop trying to figure out what it was before it became too obvious I was looking. There was something different... I just couldn't figure it out.
As if reading my mind, Mr. Reynolds announced, "Okay, so Theresa, Bradley, and Logan you will be sharing locker 212." Of freaking course. I was already trying to figure out a way to stop looking Logan over as if he was a lost dog I had just found sitting on the side of the road.
