"Hey." He said as he sat down on the opposite side of the table we always meet at after lunch. It has only been two days since we spent the night in the back of his truck, but my inability to stop thinking of every detail made it feel like only hours.
"Hey. How are you feeling?"
"So knowing how I am, I thought that the pain couldn't be that bad." I let out a snicker and shake my head. "So I went straight in the morning and picked up the medication. Instead of taking it, I just left the bottle of pills in my car. I wake up this morning and Holy Mother of Jesus did my jaw sting."
"Did it really?" I asked sarcastically. He narrowed his eyes and smiled.
"Yeah so before I did anything else I went straight to my car and popped six of those things." I immediately looked up at him.
"You did not." I began to worry. The words the doctor used as she gave him the first pill was 'these things are really strong so it may make you feel loopy for a few hours.' If one pill could have that effect than heaven only knows what six was going to do.
"Just kidding!" He smiled and started to laugh as a relieved expression flooded my face.
"I couldn't tell. You're loopy all the time." I looked up from my text book to see him staring at me with a disgusted expression.
"What are you studying?"
"My first final is for American History."
"Ah. Here let me quiz you. I aced that exam with flying colors last year." He went on to flip through the book asking certain practice problems that I should know by heart for the exam. After asking me at least 20 different questions I grabbed his binder and flipped it open to the final exam schedule. The first final he had was in Chemistry.
"Are you ready for your Chemistry exam?"
"Eh. I think I'll do alright."
"Give me your chemistry review!" I demanded as he mocked my motherly tone.
"Here." He handed me the same review I had received last year for the final.
"Make sure you can do all of these problems on the review. He takes the questions straight from the review. Keeps the same numbers and everything."
"Sweet!" He proclaimed as he playfully snatched the review from my hands. The school bell rang and he shoved the review back into his binder. "I'll see you later Theresa."
"Bye Logan. Study hard." I smile as he turns around. I was extremely happy that he had chosen not to bring up the night before. If he could keep things natural than so could I.
