"You're bleeding." I say as I try and get my mind off of what happened.
"Seriously?" He asks sternly without taking his eyes off the road. If he is seriously about to yell at me I am going to jump out of this moving car. "You are attacked by two huge ass men and you're more worried about me bleeding?"
"How'd you know where I was?"
"Alyssa had some tracker on your phone." His voice remains stern.
"What are you even doing here?"
"Alyssa asked Mitchel to come down here for the night and since I knew you were probably with her I came down. When we got to the townhouse and you weren't there Alyssa told me that you were out with some guy you all had met on the beach. She showed me the tracker and I just took it to come find you." I wanted to ask why he even cared, but decided to just avoid it for another time.
I stay silent. Too much has happened within the last hour that I wish would just disappear. I felt helpless and useless. Crew thought that he could just touch me and he would not get any reprimand. His fraternity used rape as a way to show dominance over another house. I reach for Haiden's phone sitting in the middle counsel. "What are you doing? Don't watch that bullshit." He says as he takes his hand off the steering wheel and reaches for the phone.
I move it far enough away so he can't reach it. "Logan, you hit them pretty hard. I don't want them to die." I start to cry lightly. He looks over at me for the first time since we got into the car.
He takes a deep breath in disagreement, but places a reassuring hand onto my leg. "Theresa, we need to get you to a hospital for your wrist first. I will call the police once we get there." I turn and look out the window at the passing buildings and people. I lean my head against the cold window hoping to get some relief from the throbbing headache.
We arrive at the hospital five minutes later. He jumps out and runs over to open my door. The hospital is small and not busy. He talks to the lady at the desk saying that I need to get my wrist checked out. He keeps a hand on me at all times as we are motioned to sit in the waiting room. He takes his hand off my back as we sit down to wait. I look up at him for the first time in light to see his face is turning black and blue from the punch he had received. I look down at his knuckles to see his right hand covered in blood.
"Logan." I say quickly.
"What?" His attention is taken away from his thoughts to look down at me. He follows my gaze to his hand. "Oh, I didn't notice." With his words I pull my shirt off and turn it inside out. "What are you doing?" He asks panicked with his eyes opened wide.
"Logan." I take his hand into mine. "Let me take care of you. It helps me clear my mind." I look up at him. His brown eyes are locked into mine. I finish wrapping his hand with my shirt without breaking eye contact. Luckily we are at a beach and the few people in the waiting room are also only wearing bathing suits.
"Theresa." A nurse yells out over the waiting room. I stand up and hand him the phone hoping that he gets the hint that I want him to call the police. He follows me into the deeper parts of the hospital as I am instructed to get an x-ray of my wrist. He waits in the hallway. When I come out he is on the phone talking to someone. He repeats the word 'ok' several times before hanging up. He puts the phone back into his pocket and looks over at me.
"The police are going to go look at the scene. Other cops are going to come here and they want to talk to you about what happened." He walks over to me and puts both hands on my shoulders and looks down into my eyes. "Are you going to be ok with that?" I nod quietly, unsure of my answer.
The nurse has to basically force Logan to put his hand into the x-ray machine. He tries to convince everyone that his blood covered hand is fine. He makes me laugh as he gives into the nurses and puts his hand into the machine. The nurse leads us to a small exam room. She tells us to stay put and the doctor would be in after he viewed the x-rays. I sit on the hospital bed and Logan moves the extra chair in the room over to the bedside.
"Theresa. I'm sorry I wasn't there sooner. I wanted to kill them both." He takes my hand into his.
"You were supposed to be in a city two hours away and you managed to be there when I needed someone the most." My eyes begin to water even with my best attempts to keep them dry. He reaches up and wipes a falling tear from my cheek.
