We turned on the TV and found the news station to find out anything about what was going on. They man who was at the front desk last night hadn't returned since last night. We had free reign over the hotel at this point. The woman on the news channel said that the governor had declared a state of emergency and advised that no one try and leave their homes.
"So Dan, tell us more about yourself." Rachel insisted.
"What would you like to know?"
"Well, I can hear the accent. Where are you from?"
"England. I live right outside of London."
"What are you doing here?" I placed the remote on the mantle above the fire place and sat on the empty seat next to Dan.
"I was working at one of the boardwalk restaurants as a study program for university, but my mother is American and I decided to stay with her for a while and work here before I went back."
"How is it there?" I asked.
"In England?" He looked over at me. I nodded as it seemed his bright blue eyes looked straight through my body and into my soul. "It is different than here. The people are into a lot of different things and you drive on the wrong side of the road."
"How are you even allowed to drive here?" I asked laughing hoping my question didn't come out rude.
"Technically I am not really supposed to be driving, but this city becomes deserted during the winter and I know how to drive." He laughed back carelessly. "He looked down as he took his gloves off to reveal tattoos covering his knuckles. The inked design ran farther up his arm, but was covered by the thick orange jacket he was wearing. "How long have you guys been in town?"
"We just got here yesterday." Rachel inserted. He continued to look at me before he glanced over to Rachel.
"What are you in town for?" He asked. I looked over at Rachel wondering how she would answer the question.
"Well, we thought we could get a little escape before finals week, but we got more trapped than free." Everyone laughed at her joke.
"You all go to the same university?"
"Theresa goes to a different one, but we all know each other from meeting here over the summer." Sara included.
A phone began to ring and Dan looked down at his large jacket searching the pockets. He reached the phone and pulled it out before looking at the screen. "Please excuse me ladies. I have to take this." He gets up from his spot and walks away from the couches.
"Is it me or is Dan totally hot?" Rachel leaned in and whispered as she sneaked another glance at Dan.
"I was thinking the same thing." Sara said.
"You should try and get to know him better." I said wiggling my shoulders.
"Why? It is obvious he is into you." I got caught off guard by her sudden reply.
"What? What makes you say that?"
