"The truth and dare game was going on and Mitchel, Bradley, Anna, James and I were the only people that hadn't chickened out." I closed the door behind me and sat on the edge of the bed pointing my body towards Alyssa who was letting the tears fall. "Mitchel asked Bradley a truth about once making out with a taken girl who was at the party. It obviously took Bradley by surprise, but he admitted it was true." She began to cry a little harder and I placed my hand on her arm that was holding the pillow tightly. "Bradley then took it upon himself to ask Mitchel, right in front of me, if it was true that he had slept with a slut he met at a college party over the summer." She started to blubber out tears and would take gasps as she tried to regain her composure. "It was obviously true because Mitchel didn't deny it. He stood up and started towards Bradley. Before he could stand up, Mitchel grabbed him by the shirt and threw him backwards into the living room."
"Oh Alyssa, I'm so sorry." I tried to ease her pain, but I did not know how.
"This party was a mistake." She stated as she put her head down into the pillow.
"I'll make sure that everyone leaves." I said as I stood up from the edge of the bed. She nodded in agreement and placed her head back down as I walked out the door. Her parents would be getting home any minute now and I had to make sure that this house was not broken in any way. Luckily most of the people had been leaving already when I reached the bottom of the stairs.
"Hey. Where is Alyssa?" Anna asked as she put her hand on my arm gently to get my attention. I hesitated answering her. I gave in knowing that Alyssa needed to have company.
"She is upstairs. Just help me get everyone out of her and we can go talk to her." I replied and she nodded. People that we had never met before were leaving. It was obvious this party was a lot larger than originally planned. The easiest way to get all the teenagers out of the house was announcing that we had run out of drinks. It took about 10 minutes after that to have the house completely cleared. Bradley and James stayed behind to speed clean all the cups that were sitting around the house. Anna and I started to clean the dishes in the kitchen and about 30 minutes later the house looked like only a small gathering had occurred. Bradley and James moved the kitchen table back into the center of the room and left. The clock on the stove read 1:36 am. I continued to pick up red cups and glow sticks as the front door opened. Her parents walked through the garage door as I was placing the last of the garbage into the trashcan.
"Hey Theresa. Where is Alyssa?" Her mother asked as she placed her wallet and keys onto the freshly wiped counter. Her father went straight to the couch and crashed from drinking too much.
"She went upstairs about 20 minutes ago to go to sleep." I replied hoping that she would let it slide.
"She should be helping you clean."
"Oh, she did. She cleaned the rest of the house and I got the kitchen!" I tried to cover.
"Oh, ok." Her mother gave in. "Well how was the party?"
"It was a success." I lied.
"Great. Good night darling." She said as she walked over to her husband to help him up the stairs. I turned off the lights and walked up the stairs to where I had left Alyssa an hour ago. I opened the door and saw that she was fast asleep. I just assumed that Anna had left with Logan without saying goodbye. I closed the bedroom door and walked to the front door making sure that I used the code to lock it. I debated on just spending the night, but I knew that my parents would be awake waiting for me to come home. They hated me being out on New Year's Eve night. To my surprise I walked into a dark house and went straight to my room where I plugged in my phone and threw the dress into the hamper before just crashing on my bed, too tired to put anything else on.
