i checked my phone. no calls or no messages. it's been a tradition that archie and i come to pop's every second week on friday, just us two. no betty, no jughead, no veronica. just us.
he was late. archie has never been late.
i heard the door to the shop open, my head popped up to see who came it but it was only chuck clayton.
he caught me staring and smirked, i sighed and put my head down and ate the chips that archie and i were going to share, but since he wasn't here it would be a waste to just leave the food there and wait for it to get cold.
as i lifted a chip to my lips someone slid into the booth i was sat at.
"now what would a pretty girl like you be doing on a friday night alone," chuck said, i rolled my eyes and ignored him. "can you at least say hi?" he waved his hands in front of me.
"i'm not alone."
"that's right you have me," he smiled, thinking that any of this affected me.
"no, i have my chips, and now, you will be the one alone," i picked up one more chip and walked out the shop. i hated chuck.
as soon as i stepped out of the pop's, i saw archie and veronica sitting together in a car. was he there the whole time, with veronica?
fury rose inside of me, and i stomped out of the parking lot, making sure that archie and veronica could see my anger.
i heard a car door open, followed by shouts of my name, but instead of slowing down and stopping, i started to run.

i should have known, archie and veronica, they'd been hanging out together a lot since veronica came to riverdale, but I never thought about how close they really were.
i sat on the porch of my home, fighting back tears. i promised myself that i would never let a guy hurt me again, but i failed, once again.
a few minutes later, a car appeared at my driveway, archie, and veronica.
the tears i had been holding back fell from my eyes.
archie hopped out of the car and took a seat next to me.
"y/n it's not what it looks like-"
"yes, i know archie! that's everyone's excuse! don't you think that i've heard that enough?" i allowed my tears to fall completely down my face, dripping onto my shirt.
"no, y/n this isn't an excuse, it's the truth-"
"then what were you doing with veronica when you promised you'd be with me?" i turned, trying to glare at archie with blurry eyes.
"i... uh..." archie choked on his words and i chuckled.
"of course, you can't explain it." i smiled with pain, "you know what hurts the most? i actually really liked you, heck, i'm pretty sure i loved you," i put my head down to stare at my shoes, "but i held myself back from ever telling you because everybody loves archie, why would he choose me when he has a whole group of girls chasing after him?" i laughed once more, i tasted salty tears as they entered my mouth.
veronica then stepped out of the car.
"just listen y/n, archie called me because i'm the queen of relationships, i'm cupid," veronica told me, i scoffed but she ignored me and continued, "archie really loves you, there i said it, he called me for advice on how to confess his undying love for you," veronica smiled, "there, i said it for you, archie."
i wiped my face and turned to archie, he stared back and his mouth twitched into a smile, which I kindly returned.
"i'm so sorry that you thought differently," he pulled me into a hug, "i didn't have the words to explain, so veronica told me to write a song, my guitar is in the back of the car, do you mind getting?" he gestured to veronica, she nodded and walked off.
"i'm sorry archie, for overreacting," i laughed, wiping the rest of my tears. archie then got a hold of my wrists and wiped the tears for me.
"no, i understand, you've gotten your heart broken one too many times." he gently put my head in his hands and kissed my forehead. "what veronica said was true, i do love you, ever since chuck happened."
"oh, guys i'm here you know?" veronica had magically appeared in front of us carrying archie's guitar.
archie took his guitar and started to play his song.
i loved him. he loved me. what more could i ask for?
