    "Reggie, I just scored myself a date with the one and only Archie Andrews!" I told my best friend, I thought he'd be happy for me, but he wasn't.

"You're not going on a date with that carrot head," he scowled, refusing to look at me.

"Why not?" I whined. Truth is, I never really wanted to go on a date with Archie but I figured that I should give other boys a chance since Reggie, the person I actually liked, would never like me back. 

"I- Because no."

"You have to give me a straight answer!"

"Isn't me telling you no not enough?"

"No!"

"I just don't like Archie."

"Well I do."

Reggie stopped doing what he was doing to look at me.

"You do?" He asked, his eyes staring right back at me.

"Yes. I do."

He sighed and dropped his head in his hands. 

"What?" I put my head on the table and tried to make eye contact.

"I'm still not letting you go on this date with Archie," he mumbled, I rolled my eyes and leaned back in my chair.

"This isn't about Archie, you won't let me date anyone," I raised my eyebrow at him. "Can you just tell me why you won't let me go on one date with Archie?" 

Reggie didn't answer.

I sighed and got out of my chair and left Reggie in the room by himself.

    I looked at myself in the mirror and frowned.

Who wears a hoodie and jeans to a date?

Would Archie like what I was wearing? Reggie would. 

"Damn it Amber, you're going on a date with Reggie, not Archie." I said, realizing my mistake, I sighed and retried, "you're going on a date with Archie, not Reggie."

"Amber! Reggie's at the door!" My mum shouted.

"Don't let him in," I shouted back.

"Too bad, he's already inside."

I groaned and walked away from the mirror.

"Hey," I heard Reggie's voice. I turned and there he was, leaning on my door frame.

"What are you doing here?" I scowled.

"Checking up on you."

"Fuck off." I said. For a second Reggie looked hurt, but he covered that up quickly.
