In Darkness and In Light

Christmas isn't just about presents.

"IT'S CHRIIIIIIISTMAAAASSSSSSS!" Zak screamed at the top of his lungs at 5am.

I covered my head with the duvet ready for it as music began pumping through his house and Gracie began howling from his sudden outburst.

Laying under the duvet, I laughed as he began singing, the duvet was ripped off me so that I could watch his galloping around the room in a pair of boxers.

We'd been up the last two hours after someone woke and nudged me awake for some festive fun. - Really that's what he called it at 3am. All I wanted to do was throat punch him. Especially when he was singing jingle bells beside me until I gave in to him.

"Zaaaaak!" I whined curling up to keep warm.

"SO HERE IT IS MERRY CHRISTMAS! EVERYBODY'S HAVING FUN! EXCEPT ROBYN!"

I lifted my head to see Gracie had tinsel on her collar and had a present wrapped in her mouth. Just from the size, I had worked out that it was a ball we had brought her.

Zak wrapped everything...

I stretched before curling up and watching him, "Inhalers douchebag!" I shouted over the music.

He then galloped to the bathroom with Gracie behind him to take them.

He came back a few seconds later and as the song drew to the end, his voice was doing all the high notes which had me laughing instantly.

I curled my finger to him causing him to grin. As he leant over I pulled him onto the bed kissing him. "I love you."

"Merry Christmas Roo."

We shared another kiss before I turned my attention to Gracie who was sat on the floor waiting patiently for us.

"Go on then." I grinned giving her the go ahead to tear the wrapping paper apart.

As soon as she got half of it off, her tail was wagging.

"What is it Gray?" Zak asked ruffling her fur.

She stepped back howling until Zak tore the other half off and tossed it into the air letting her catch it.

Someone had a new squeaky!

"Where's my present?" Zak asked with a grin.

"I- present? I thought we weren't..." I frowned.

"It's fine." He smiled trying to hide the disappointment.

"Oh Zak. You'll just have to wait, it's not here." I replied making his grin appear.

"You got me a present?"

"Uh, yah."

"What is it?" He badgered.

"Nope. Nu uh. We're gonna shower and get ready because no doubt your nephew will be up already." I replied sensing his nephews excitement yesterday.

"I know, let's go my lady!" He sang scooping me up off the bed and carrying me to the bathroom to shower.

I brushed my hands down over the lace dress I had picked and smiled proudly seeing the roundness of my belly.

"Woah." Zak spoke making me look over to see him admiring me.

"How do I look?" I asked.

"Breathtaking." Was all he said before coming over and giving me a kiss.

The dress was a red lace with a satin bow wrapped across the top of the tummy only emphasising the fact there was a little bun there. The sleeves finished at my elbows and dress came to my knees.
