A space to my blank

He carried his sword at his side,
And she carried her pen at hers.
A sword for him,
To fight off all who wanted to bring Life,
And a pen for her,
To breathe life into all who's eyes
Darkened with death.

They stood before one another,
Such perfect contradictions.
He lived in a world,
Where hatred was conceived,
She lived in a world,
Where no one was decieved.

See,
A storm, and a hurricane,
All wrapped around in a single
Fiery and hard soul,
Met a soothing taste, to bitter lips,
With magic at fingertips, and healing
At the glimpse of an eye.

He, the warrior,
Taught to be tall,
Like the barrier around his heart,
Raised to be strong,
Like the look he constantly wore,
Along with the shield at his side.

But she saw more to the wall around
His heart,
She saw bricks,
That can be as easily destroyed,
As they were created.
She saw weakness,
Behind his strong exterior,
And that shield he carried so fondly,
His grip even tighter,
Than the grip around his sword,
She saw a shield,
Not to protect his childish exterior,
But to defend his cold, already
Sealed heart.

She, the writer at heart
Had the world in her mind,
And her pen,
Never leaving her delicate side.
She had a bright smile on her face,
A smile that never needed to be
Extinguished.

But he wasn't amazed at the universe
In her mind,
He knew she was too fearful,
To create one that belonged in her Hands.
He knew the only reason,
For the pen at her side,
Was because long ago,
She had turned the blood in her veins, To match the ink in her pen.
The reason for her unfaltering smile,
Was to hide away the pain,
He saw so effortlessly.

But as they looked at each other,
Both too broken to be loved by the
Other.
They tore their eyes away from one
Another.
And walked away,
As simply as their paths had crossed.

Him, off to fight more battles,
And her, off to write more stories.
Not realizing that battles aren't meant
To be fought alone,
And stories aren't meant to be written
On your own.

Not realizing that every blank,
Needs a contradictory word,
To be embedded onto a sword,
To fill up an empty space.
