The same

You told me,
That your heart had been tossed aside,
That callous scars were pinned,
Across your broken skin.
You told me,
That you've hurt,
Not by life,
But by yourself,
Because of the voices in your mind.

And I told you,
That my heart had been plunged,
From where it belonged in my chest,
To only get it thrown in my face,
To get lunged.
I've hurt,
Not by thorns or splintered glass,
But by words and aimless sayings.

I look you in the eye,
Its almost as if Im staring at my reflection.
I run my finger across your scars,
At the exact place where mine belong.
You've been broken,
Tossed aside,
And discarded,
By those who meant the most to you,
And Ive been through the same,
I was thrown away,
Like yesterday's trash.

I've stayed by myself,
I've lounged in my heart,
And slept in the comfort of my soul,
The only place I belong.
I've shaken my head at this world,
And made one of my own,
And you say you've done the same.

You dream of bigger things,
You dream of brighter days,
Well here's the strange thing,
So do I.

See,
You and I,
We want this world,
To not just be a place,
But a home for all to dwell upon.

You and I,
The definition
Of the word,
Same.
