Wake up,
And smell the roses.
Wake up,
And smell the coffee.
Open your eyes,
And stop being stuck in a trance.
You hold back your tongue,
When an empty sentence,
Is in need of a word.
Open your eyes,
And stop daydreaming.
You stare out your window,
Polluting your mind with may's and
May not's.
Do you see not what's around you?
Do you hear those foreign noises,
Those distant voices?
Do you not feel the difference in the
Air?
The odd heaviness that waves around
Your hair?
Wake up,
I say.
When will you open your eyes again?
Open your ears, and will yourself,
To listen to my pleading urges?
Your sheltered room,
Your bothered mind,
Your dog eared pages,
Need you not as much as I do.
Do you enjoy staring at greatness,
More so than being it?
Do you enjoy applauding success,
More so than curstying at the sound,
Of clapping hands?
Do you enjoy listening to words,
That stir up an ocean inside your
Bewildering heart,
More so than creating them, and being the cause of a whirlwind of
Emotions?
Wake up,
I say urgently,
Needing for you to listen to my pleas,
For goodness sake!
How long have I called you for?
How much time have I given you?
How many years have passed by?
With your promising words,
Lying untouched,
Next to your tangled cords,
Your tangled cords of faltering
Dreams,
And hopes.
Wake up,
Your idling soul frustrates me,
Your careful steps dismay me.
Your distant eyes annoy me.
All I want,
Is for you to wake up,
And realise that life is not meant to
Be planned,
Your steps need not be in order,
One foot need not go before the other, One dream is not whats meant to be
Aimed for.
Wake up,
I order you,
I order you to stop living in your
Foolish ways,
We are not back in your childish days.
Push your fears aside,
And live on the other side,
The other side of the fence,
Filled with bushy thorns.
But have you not heard?
Where there are thorns,
There are roses.
Wake up,
I say one last time,
As I watch you ignore my warnings,
As I watch you pin your head back to Your pillow,
Close your eyes,
And decide to go back to sleep.
