Dont make me choose

21 5 2

It's too hard,
This task you plead me to do.
You beg me to make a choice,
Both of you!?
Who do I love more?
The question looms in the air.
Taking up all the breath I had left,
And all the direction my feet once took.

You're both so perfect,
So imperfect at the same time.
I could not live without the other.

You, on the right,
The one I've listened to all my life,
So much sense and your steps are aligned,
Everything you do is right.
You tell me what to do,
You make me think,
Tell my arms and legs to move.

But I feel trapped by your side alone,
You know a box?
Not one of symphonies and melancholies,
But one of darkness and despair,
One that ignites claustrophobic fears,
Fears I never knew I had.

And you, on the left.
You've taught me how to love,
Where to spot light in a mountain of
Darkness,
For goodness sake,
You pump blood through my veins!

But as much as the good you've done,
You've committed crimes too.
You're the reason for my broken poetry,
Broken I never knew I possessed.
You're the reason for my tears,
Tears I never wished to shed.

My heart and my mind,
Asking me to choose between you two.
I'd much rather pull my hair out my head,
Scratch the flesh on my face,
Because you both know,
I cannot live without the other.

Gladly ask me to choose,
Between light and dark,
Love and hate,
Peace and war,
Life and death,
I will answer you earnestly.

But don't ask me to say which one I love
More.
Mind! You're sensible,
You know I can't make this choice!
Heart! Youre loving,
You don't expect me to choose do you!?

Let me ask you a question instead,
How would you like it,
If I asked you to choose,
Between love and love,
Hate and hate?

Don't make me choose,
I beg of you,
Not between my mind,
And my heart.
