I wasn't always a poet,
I used to see pretty rainbows
And glasses half full, rather than empty.
I used to see stars as only stars,
Pretty dots of gas in the universe.
I wasn't always a poet,
Because one day,
Strange feelings crept into my skin,
And started replacing my blood,
Running through my veins,
And filling my mind with all its thoughts.
I think that's when I became a poet,
The day I was able to look at the night sky,. And feel sorry for the stars,
Knowing their only purpose was to stay in
The same position.
The day I looked at a glass off water,
I didn't see it as empty or full,
I saw it as something that could quench
Thirst,
For as long as a droplet still remained.
No matter it's quantity,
It's still useful as itself.
I wasn't always a poet,
Because I used to see poets as sad people,
Who saw the world with stone cold eyes,
But then I realised,
Those sad people I shook my head at in
Dismay,
I had become one of them.
I wasn't always a poet,
Because a poet is a sculptor of words,
The bearers of truth and sorrow.
It's true, poets are sad,
I know this,
Because I wasn't always sad.
