Poetic Justice

Pencils

I wish my mark were lighter,
I wish if I did something wrong,
I could be erased.
I wish that I wouldn't be permanent,
Not my words nor my touch,
Not my smile nor my tears.

If I were a pencil,
I would do as I please,
Without a care in the world,
As long as I have an eraser by my side.
If I got hurt,
The scars would fade,
If my presence would no longer be felt,
Then I would fade.
If I hated my tears and wished them away,
They would do as I tell them.
All my weaknesses would be nonexistent,
Because I would have control
Over what I put into this world.

But then again,
If I were a pencil,
You'd forget everything I told you,
You'd forget my eyes and my hair,
You'd forget my smell and my voice,
You'd forget my heart and my words.
You'd forget how much you mean to me.
Perhaps then I'd forget myself too,
I would see no reflection in the mirror,
I would ache to be seen,
But be overlooked by darker and more Finite lines.
My scribbles would be nothing,
Compared to a strong and potent print.

Sometimes I wish I were a pencil,
Soft and unnoticed,
Other times I'm glad I'm a pen,
The stable and beautiful marks I've left
Will be sketched upon your heart forever.
A permanent fixture in your life,
Not a temporary light in your darkness.

Pencils are for the weak,
But sometimes I reflect on who I am,
And just for those dreary moments,
I wish I were one.

(A/n: This is actually seriously deep, I wanted to do something lighthearted and cute, but I can't because I'm a pen not a pencil, and pens aren't light, they're dark and deep.
Oh my gosh...that was like...a pun...What... Lol...just kidding...just kidding... Awkward... *chirp chirp*...Even more awkward... See... If I we're a pencil I would have just erased my awkwardness but I'm a pen so I can't. Dang it!
