Which is more important to you,
Is quite a simple question to ask.
Is it,
The smiles before your face,
Or the whispers behind you.
The flowers that they hand you,
Or the knife that's still embedded,
In your back.
Their eyes full of innocence,
But theirs hearts seeping of cold,
Uncalled for hatred.
They say they want you by their side,
They need you, because you can make
Their world bold.
They want you to be in tune with the
Wind,
They want you to match the rhythmic
Movements of the wavering trees.
They want your eyes to be wild,
But your heart to be refined.
They want your head to fill with
Theories, of what may, and what may
Not,
But they want your lips to be as sealed
As a closed jar belongs.
For all your life,
You've looked up to them,
And their somewhat sparkling Demeanor.
For all your life,
You've wanted to be them,
Leading their perfectly immaculate
Lives.
But now as you see them for who they
Are,
The fake smiles that they offer you,
And the ears that don't really want to
Listen.
When you turn your back,
You can feel those agonizing eyes on
You.
But the truth is,
They hate not what you wear,
Or the way you look,
They hate not the colour of your eyes,
Or the curl in your hair,
Truthfully, all outer entities
Set apart,
They hate your unfaltering smile,
In the midst of a destructive storm.
They hate the way your words,
Are expressed on a piece of paper,
They hate the shimmer, the glimmer,
In your sparkling eyes.
The eyes that hold so much more
Hope,
The eyes that hold so much fire
When theirs are only filled with ice.
They hate the beauty you have.
All the make up in the world,
Could never ever come close to your
Pure and natural bloom.
And you feel sorry for them,
Because they have been taught to hate
Rather than create.
They have been taught to hold a Grudge
Rather than be misjudged.
You feel sorry for them,
Because you know behind those cold
And distant eyes,
Lies a lost soul, in need of love.
Lies a beating heart, in need of
Mending.
The way they walk,
Is with perfect posture.
The way they smile,
Is with pearly white teeth.
But you see behind their denying lies.
You see their false words,
And fake smiles.
And truthfully,
Deep down,
It saddens you,
To know that people,
Will always be,
The liars that they are.

(A/n: So this is basically how I feel about all the people who lie about who they are, who say they have the perfect lives, when clearly they don't. We all have our flaws, even if that flaw is wanting to be perfect.
