Rose's POV:
When I woke up at dawn from, by far, the best sleep I've ever had. I felt a little woozy. My head hurt and I felt faint. But I went on with getting up anyway. I didn't bother to change. I was groggy. Plus, the night before I had already put my "camp uniform" on. The shirt was way too comfortable to change anyway. Once I had brushed my tangled hair, brushed my teeth, and washed my face, I went back to the bed I had gotten out of after I woke up. Blood. Blood was everywhere. Once I looked down, I remembered last night when I climbed through that bush. I had never checked myself over, I kinda just shrugged it off. I guess it was more serious than I thought... Oh God... what am I gonna do. I need help. I need Percy, he's the only one I know, the one who helped me. I run as fast as I can. My eyes are starting to roll back and I see black spots. Everything is starting to go dark. "Percy!" I yell. "Percy! Help...." I quietly yell. My voice is starting to get quieter. I don't know how longer I can stay conscious. I start to crawl. I get close to the front of Percy's cabin, but I, not sure if it's close enough. "Percy!" My last word. My last effort to get help. That name, I yelled as loud as I could. I'm down for the count, lying on the grass, I look up at the sky. I hear footsteps, they seem so far away, but I feel a presence immediately next to me. I attempt to open my eyes as much as I can and can tell it's Percy. I can see his jet black hair. He says, "Open your eyes Rose! Come on! Stay with me! Somebody get Will! Come on Rose... please." My eyes grow heavy and then everything goes black.
When I wake up, I see, what I'm guessing is, the camps infirmary. I remember, basically, what happened. I'm exhausted, but I need to get up. I need to feel something. Just as I'm about to get up, Percy comes in. "The one time I leave to use the bathroom and you wake up. Nice timing, Rose."
"Hey Percy. Thanks for saving me." I smile weakly, still feeling groggy.
"So you remember what happened? I'd assume you'd forget." He said sitting down on my cot.
"No, I remember. I tried so hard to get to you. I thought my efforts wouldn't be enough." I replied sadly looking down at my hands.
"I'm just happy I heard you and we were able to get you help in time." He smiled.
"Uh... Percy?" I asked after a few moments of silence. Percy looked up at me curiously.
"Yeah?" He questioned.
"The cabin I slept in... there might be a li-" He cut me off.
"It's all cleaned up. Don't worry about it." He assured me. My face heated up out of embarrassment.
"Oh. Ok, good. Sorry about that..." I apologized. I wish there was some way I could make it up to him.
"It's not your fault, Rose. You can't help being cut and bleeding from it. Ya know that's the body's natural response to a wound." He replied rather proud of himself for being so 'factual'. I rolled my eyes and mistered a sarcastic reply.
"Yes, Percy, I know that... hey Percy, is there a lake near here?" I replied. For some reason I felt like, if I was in the water, then I'd feel a lot better right now... it was weird, but I just felt drawn to swim for some reason.
"Yeah there's one in the camp. Why?" He asked looking up with what I could only see as hope. Odd...
"Can you take me there?" I asked sitting up in my cot.
He smirked a little and said, "yeah, of course." I was confused as to why he was acting like that, being so excited but trying to hide it, but I didn't question it because I was getting to go to a lake, and I'm not jeopardizing that opportunity. We walked for a couple of minutes, me leaning on Percy's arm the whole way. Once we got to the lake, I took my shorts and my shirt off. I was wearing a sports bra and, obviously, underwear. I told Percy to lead me over to the end of the small deck leading into the lake. Once we got there, he set me down and I sort of leaped into the water in that sitting position. I swam to the bottom and held onto a big rock at the bottom. I breathed in the water, my body feeling relaxed. I never told Percy about my weird ability, but if he got worried I figured he'd just come down to get me, so I decided to just relax down here. I felt better, like I didn't have a wound and I didn't feel as bad as I did prior to this. The lake was beautiful and so peaceful. I felt at home. It started to get brighter for some reason. I wasn't sure what it was, but it sure did light up this gorgeous underwater kingdom. Just then, somebody jumped in. It easily would have been 15 minutes since I first got in the water, I would've thought Percy would have checked on me already. But, he was here now. He looked above me and smiled. He was just staring and... was he breathing underwater too? I thought I was the only one. How could he be... just then he motioned for me to go back up to the surface. I let go of the rock and swam up with him. I pulled myself up into a sitting position on the edge of the dock with ease. Percy sat next to me, mimicking my actions. He smiled at me for what felt like a solid year.
