Myra's POV:
It was night time after a long day of traveling. The castle was getting close, I could feel the dread building the closer we got. Nathan gave me my last dosage of herbs yesterday. This would be my first night without them the entire trip. At the moment we were eating some rabbits Ben had caught in the woods. I finished mine off rather quickly and sat uncomfortably by Cole's side. Rose finished soon after me and left us without a word.
"Cole? Do you think I should talk to her?" I asked. Cole looked up, a smudge of charcoal from the rabbit was on his cheek. I rubbed it off and he grinned at me.
"That'd be a good idea, Frostbite." He encouraged.
"I don't know what to say to her though..." I mumbled, fidgeting nervously with a pebble. Cole sighed.
"Just tell her how you feel. Be honest, Myra." He instructed, giving me a pleading look.
"Umm... I kinda just feel nervous and tired."
"Well when you get back, I'll have Nathan give you more of those leaves, okay?"
"Cole, he ran out yesterday." I couldn't help but feel even more nervous with that thought. I thought I noticed a bit of fear flicker across Cole's face, but it went away so fast that I wasn't sure if I had imagined it or not.
"Just go talk to her and stop procrastinating." He playfully made a shooing gesture with his hands.
"Fine..." I got up and left, following where Rose had went a few minutes earlier. She was sitting by her sleeping bag, but she wasn't facing me. I sat down next to her and cleared my throat awkwardly.
"What do you want, Myra?" I could feel the tension between us thicken. It was making me lose my nerve.
"I uhh... I wanted to talk to you."
"About?"
"Y-Yesterday... or was it the day before that? I-I'm kind of losing track of time..." I stuttered through my words. Rose stared at me unflinchingly, making me even more nervous. I started tapping my fingers on my leg.
"Just say what you need to, Myra. I'm kinda busy right now." Rose gave me an annoyed look.
"Sorry. Well, yeah umm... for both things? Like sorry for right now and for the other thing... Do you want me to come back later? Maybe I should come back later..." I felt an embarrassed blush rise to my face. I automatically looked back at Cole for support, but he was talking to Ben.
"No, we can talk now."
"Oh. Cool. Um... I uh just wanted to apologize since we could, you know, die any day now. Not that I want you to die or anything! I just umm... I'm not good at this... Are we cool now?" I scratched the back of my neck, giving her an awkward smile. Rose gave me an incredulous look.
"Myra... you can't just apologize like that and expect me to forgive you. You... you're apologizing because we could die and not because you're actually sorry. That's not okay, Myra." Rose scolded me. I sighed and looked at the ground.
"I am sorry, but... I just want to look out for you. I mean come on, you know our lives. We could die any day. Which doesn't sound as comforting as I thought it would now." I trailed off a bit.
"What're you trying to say, Myra?" I could hear annoyance edged in Rose's voice. I tensed up a bit.
"I-I'm trying to apologize. I'm just nervous I guess..."
"Listen, I know you have trust issues... but Ben wouldn't just swear on the Styx because he can... he did it for me, and that really just... it helped. I know what he did to you, and I get it. But, he's done crap to me too, and I guess I'm still trying to get over it. But him doing that kinda helped the process..." She explained. I saw her look over at Ben.
