Rose's POV:
It's late. I need to clear my head. All of the fighting swirls through my mind like a whirlpool. I need to take a walk. My last attempt to clear my head. Although the fighting was all a dream, it really effected me. I don't even know who those people were, but I felt like I did? I don't know... "Don't think, just walk" I tell myself. I walk slowly down the street to the lake. The lake is the only spot where I can clear my head nowadays. There's just something about lakes that soothes me. Every now and then a leaf will fall off of a tree and create the most subtle, yet beautiful, ripples, sparkling in the moon light. The calm wards off the storm. What makes the water even prettier is when it rains. I feels like watching rain on bodies of water helps me get my anger and emotions out. The rain is what fights my battles.
I've always been a quiet person. I'm not really into having huge groups of friends. I guess that's just my personality. But every now and then I'll find someone that I really like. Of course, I've never been able to get up courage to talk to those people, but sometimes they talk to me first. And sometimes people I don't want to talk to me will talk to me... Like this one time...
Flashback:
It's the last day of school today. Obviously, all of the "popular" kids are having a party. And obviously, I'm not invited. I mean, of course I'd love to get an invitation. They all know even if I did get one that I wouldn't go. But, they don't have hearts. They're all just so selfish and uncaring.
I walk to my locker to clean it out right after the bell rings. A couple people wave and say "see ya next year!". I just smile, nod, and wave back. As I'm cleaning out my locker, I hear someone clear their throat. I think nothing of it and continue on. But then someone clears their throats even louder and starts shuffling in place. I peak around my open locker door. It's Ben, the most popular guy in my grade. Don't get me wrong, he's a nice guy, but I've never talked to him once. "Hey, Rose."
"Oh, hey Ben." I give him the kindest smile I can muster, hoping he'll go away. Or, at least, say whatever he has to fast enough for him to walk away. I decide to continue with what I was doing since he hasn't spoken up yet.
"What're you doing?" I gave him a weird look, stopping what I'm doing to turn to him.
"Uh... I'm cleaning out my locker as you can obviously see." I gesture to my locker.
"Oh... oh yeah sorry I was distracted." He blushed. Why is he blushing? Is he hot? I mean it is kinda humid in here. We really need some air conditioning in this school. I can't believe I haven't noticed that at first. I might actually go swimming in the lake tonight I ca- "Uh Rose?" He cut my thoughts off.
"Oh what yeah what?" I said shaking myself out of my daydream.
"Though I lost ya there for a sec." he slowly shoved his hands into his shorts, looking up at me with a smirk.
"Oh sorry, I got a little lost in my thoughts for a minute. Did you need something, Ben?" I asked returning to shoving books into my bag.
"Well... yeah. You see, some of my friends are having a party tonight and I was just wondering if you'd like to come?" He asked... nervously? Hm...
"Me?" I questioned slightly unbelievably.
"Well yeah, you." He smiled widely.
"This is the first time we've ever talked this whole year, why are you inviting me?" I crossed my arms.
"Well, you're part of this school and this class, so you should come." He explained slowly.
"I don't know, Ben..." I looked down.
