Myra's POV:
"H-hey, Myra?" Rose came over to me.
"Yeah, Rose. Wait, did you come up with something already? That was quick." I stretched and stood up excitedly. The nervous expression in her face wasn't very promising though...
"Well, kinda. Nathan needs to talk to you about it. You'll have to ok it..." Rose told me. I walked over to Nathan. He gave me a warm smile.
"Hey, do you think we could talk outside?" Nathan asked. I checked on Cole quickly and saw him quietly talking to Ben.
"Sure, let's try to make it quick." He nodded and we walked outside. "So what's this all about?" I asked once we stepped out into the cool night air.
"Well, Rose and I were talking about saving Knox and the other demigods."
"Yeah?"
"I kinda don't want to anger you when I say this, but we can't save all of them. If you explain to them that they're going back to the camp, they'll turn on all of us and we can't risk that. And you know they'll want to know where they're going, Myra."
"Nathan, they're the only family I've ever had. I'm not leaving them behind." I protested. There was no way I was leaving any of them. Not again. Never again.
"I understand you want to save them all, but you can't-" I cut him off.
"Yes I can. Nathan, I don't have a choice! I can-no, I will save them. This isn't up for debate. Whether you like it or not. I don't need your help."
"Myra, you didn't let me finish. You can't save them. But I will. Or, at least, I'll try. You guys are too valuable and you can't risk your life or the lives of Cole and Ben and Rose... I'm not important in this prophecy, I'll save them. But if I can't save them all, I'll at least try to save Knox... I promise you, Myra."
"I can! I will save them! I'll find a way. There has to be way. You don't understand-"
"No, Myra. You don't understand. If one of you dies, the prophecy is ruined and the world as we know it will end. Myra, I know it's hard to trust me after what happened, but I can save them."
"Nathan just give me a chance!" I begged, but Nathan just shook his head.
"No, Myra. You can't have a chance, we can't mess this up."
"I won't mess it up!"
"But we can't just hope that you'll save them without a scratch. We can't risk anything. You do your job, and I'll do mine, and that's saving as many as I can for you."
"I can't just stand by..."
"You won't be, you'll be a hero for saving humanity. I can do this, please."
"I don't deserve to be a hero. We both know that."
"Well you're going to have to deal with it."
"Gods, Nathan... I-I can't do this. What if she gets control of me again? What if I attack you guys?! I already know once we free the gods I won't be allowed to go on Olympus..." I didn't mean to let my other fears slip through, but the stress from all of it was overwhelming me.
"She'll only be able to if you let her, Myra. You have to be stronger than that. I know for a fact you are. And that's just another reason for you to devote all of your attention into saving Olympus and not to worry about the demigods. I'll worry about them." Nathan soothed, but I didn't believe him. How can you fight a monster you can't see?! One that slips into your head while you're sleeping and twists your memories. One that brutally beats you until you're covered in blood. One that freezes your friends for fun.
