Rose's POV:

It's been a few days of walking now. I haven't stopped to rest at all except a few times to get some food out of my bag. But, other than that, I've just kept walking. I don't sleep at night out of a small fear of someone, or something, coming at me to kill me. Plus, I don't want to lose track of time too much. I know Ben would be angry that I haven't slept, and, if Myra were here, she'd scold me to sleep and then take the night shift. I'd say I miss our days of traveling for that prophecy, but I don't. That stupid prophecy, that stupid quest... it messed me up. It messed all of us up. I'm surprised I'm the only one that's doing something about it. I mean, I know Myra is happy since she has Cole, they're safe, and she has a puppy now. I know Cole's happy as long as Myra is, so I never had to worry about him. And Ben... Ben was ok. Until I messed it up... I mess everything up even if I'm not there! Ugh! Why did I do this?... I-I did this for me... gods I'm so selfish. Maybe... maybe after a while he'll be able to move on and have the life he deserves. I told him I would come back. And I will! Just... not as soon as I told him I would. I just want to be with my mom. Live a normal life for a little bit. I need to change up my surroundings. I need to be home.

As I was walking, I heard a branch crack. I immediately stopped and gripped my glaive tightly in my hand. I've encountered a few monsters so far, but it hasn't been too bad. I figured this was just another one and, once I defeated it, I could move on again. I looked around and saw something hiding behind a tree. I knew I had nothing left to lose, so I slowly and quietly walked over to the tree. I counted down from three and then jumped around the tree. I was close to slicing off the things head... that is until I saw who it was...

A boy with long blonde hair, probably a couple of years older than me, was standing in front of me, covering his face, sobbing. He wore a green sweater, a gray beanie, and some ripped, blue jeans. He looked like he'd been through a lot because his clothes seemed dirty. He looked terrified. "Who are you." I commanded, grabbing his hands with one of my open ones, throwing them to his sides. He stood there, dumbfounded. Tears streamed down his face, washing away some of the dirt that was on his cheeks. He wiped it away as I rolled my eyes and put my glaive away. "Kid, I'm not gonna hurt you. Just tell me your name."

"Uh-uh-uh..." he stuttered out. I stepped closer, making him jump.

"Listen, I'm not going to hurt you. Just tell me your name. Here, my name is Rose." I said holding out my hand slowly as not to scare him again. He looked up at me with innocent eyes.

"Y-You c-c-can call me Oli." I smiled as kindly as possible.

"Nice to meet you, Oli. Can you tell me how old you are? Why you're out here all alone." He grimaced and a tear ran down his cheek.

"I-I need h-help, R-Rose." He said hesitantly.

"What's wrong? Are you hurt?" I asked looking him over.

"My friend, I-and I were... we were traveling to find th-this camp... and we... he got really hurt. I think he might have broken his leg." He said in a scared and anxious tone.

"Alright alright, I know what you're talking about... uh I have something that could help, just take me to your friend and I'll take a look and, hopefully, I'll be able to actually help, okay? Does that sound good?" He immediately perked up and started walking in the other direction. I followed behind him as he lead me. Eventually, he lead me to this brook. I saw a leg poking out from behind a huge rock and began walking over. "Is that him?" I called over, looking back to Oli as I was walking. Oli smiled and nodded. I gave him a weird look, but brushed it off. I was met by a boy about my age with blood on his face and a bandana covering his mouth. He looked like he was out cold. I came closer, trying to remove his bandana. His eyes immediately shot open, they were bright blue and pierced my soul, and then he grabbed my wrists with both his hands, I began to panic and began trying to reassure him that I was trying to help. Someone popped out from behind a nearby tree and rushed over to me. I knew it was a guy from his stature and, as he rushed towards me, he pulled out a bottle. Once he was at my side, he sprayed the bottle directly into my eyes. I screamed in pain, trying to break away. The boy who was holding my wrists soon let me go and I stumbled backwards in an attempt to get away. I was feeling woozy and my vision began to... glitch? It... it was so weird. It felt like I was watching a video but the video was cracked and the computer had been hacked. I stumbled to the ground ending up lying on my stomach. I looked up to see the boy who had tricked me, Oli. He was crouching, looking at me. The last sight I saw before everything went black.
