Rose's POV:

We've been walking for about a week now. We've encountered so many monsters along the way to Lake Superior that sleeping was often just a rare accommodation. At first, it was exhausting, but we had no choice but to get use to it. Hopefully this type of training, with use of energy, would be able to help Myra while she made her ice bridge. The more I saw the route we were taking, the less I understood why we were going this way. I asked Myra once but she just shrugged and said "because we have to" so I figured our destination was just at the other side of Lake Superior. I told Ben my thoughts on this and he agreed with me since we didn't have anything else to base it on. At one point I was able to make Myra rest for a bit. She refused to get any rest because she was the one who always wanted to keep watch so she could be the one to wake Ben and I up right when our hour of sleeping was up. But, with a bit of fighting, I was able to get her to sleep for an hour one night. She's the one that needed all the rest she could get because, once we get to Lake Superior, she wasn't going to be getting much rest at all, plus she'd be tiring herself out for days on end.

Today was the day we could finally see Lake Superior. We came to the lake and admired it for a bit. Ben looked at Myra with a worried and questioning expression. "Ready?" He asked her. It was now or never for Myra to start the bridge. I was nervous for her to be honest. But I had faith.

"As ready as I'll ever be." She replied blankly. She stepped up to the edge of the water and started to concentrate on what she wanted to do. Then, out of her fingers came ice and flurries of snow. They formed a bridge stretching about thirty or forty feet.

"Is it stable?" I asked stepping up to the bridge.

"I don't know." She replied blankly, yet again. "Maybe you should try it." I gave her a look. "What? Got a bad fin, Nemo? I thought you were Poseidon's kid?"

"Well obviously I can swim, I just don't want to fall in."

"Well, somebody's gotta test it." With that, we both looked at Ben. He looked back, obviously not paying much attention. "You should go first, lead the way, Lover Boy." He simply shrugged his shoulders and stepped onto the bridge. I held my breath, but it didn't falter. We then both stepped onto it behind Ben, but Myra pushed her way to the front in order to keep building on. It wasn't long until we met our first sirens. Myra stopped what she was doing and threw her backpack down, swearing loudly. She handed us wax and told us to put it in our ears. We quickly did so, not asking questions in the process. We all put the wax in our ears, but out of nowhere, one of the sirens came up from the water. A horrific creature it was. Apparently it was horrific enough to scare Myra because she almost fell into the water. Another siren surged at her to grab her, but Ben was able to grab her hand, pulling her back to stability and stabbed at the sirens webbed hand. "Keep building the bridge!" He yelled at her. "We'll keep them away from you!" She nodded in response and kept building. Ben and I had to walk and fight, trying not to fall in in the process. They didn't seem to be that vicious of creatures, they only tried to grab at our feet to stop us from walking. We continued like this for hours and I could see Myra was becoming increasingly tired the more she strained her powers. I was, honestly, getting annoyed with all of this nonsense. I created a wall out of the water and called out to Myra. "Myra! Freeze these walls. They were on either side of us. She quickly ceased her work with the bridge and froze the walls while reinforcing the floor under us. She practically collapsed into a sitting position taking deep breaths. "You ok?" I asked, realizing we still had wax in our ears I said it again, this time, shouting, once we were all relaxed and sitting in a small circle.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little winded." I nodded my head and we proceeded to just relax for a few minutes. After about ten minutes, Myra got up and started to build the bridge again. Neither Ben nor I chose to ask questions and started walking again and keeping the sirens away from Myra.
