Will's POV:
"I just gave them the preparatory injection, Olthen." I walked into Olthen's room. It's where he spends most of his time. He turned to look at me, grinning, and sat down on top of his desk.
"Good work, Will. Give them the first dosage as soon as they wake up. Also, did you detonate the shock anklets while they were out?" He commanded. I sighed in slight frustration, pulling off my bandanna and running a hand through my hair.
"Olthen, I can't do that. I have to wait until it's completely out of their systems first. It'll only take a couple hours. If I don't wait it'll be less effective and take longer to work. And yes, I did it before they came into consciousness." I explained. I did this almost every single time we got a new prisoner. Olthen didn't seem to understand how fragile people's minds actually were... or maybe he did understand and just didn't care. And those anklets... keeping them from using their powers. It was so inhumane. I knew it was for my own safety when I had to bring stuff to them, but still...
"Fine. But as for the first dosage, I want it done as soon as possible." He snapped, starting to turn away from me.
"Wait. Can you tell me anything else about them? Besides their names? Maybe a warning..." I huffed, rubbing my shin where Myra kicked me in her escape attempt. It would probably bruise, but she wasn't strong enough to cause any real damage. Olthen rolled his eyes and faced me again.
"Prisoner 16 is the one we captured first. She's a daughter of Khione. The only known one in existence. She's got an interesting record actually." Olthen smirked, pulling out a file from inside one of the desk drawers. He opened it up and sifted through it. I caught a glimpse of a few pictures of Myra. For most of them she was with a blond boy, then there was a few pictures of a castle, and some pictures of her with Rose. "Here it is. Prisoner 16. She's classified as dangerous. Known to produce hail and snowstorms, can create ice, and is considered unstable, stubborn, and extremely territorial." Olthen read this all off the file as if this was a normal thing. I hated it when he did this. He treats them all like circus animals, and before I managed to create the potion that got everyone under his control, Olthen used a considerably more unorthodox method of subduing prisoners.
"Territorial?" I asked, trying to understand what the hell he meant.
"Protective." Olthen waved his hand around as if there wasn't a difference. I sighed. "She'll be tough to get under control at first, but she'll make a powerful weapon. Prisoner 16 has experience killing-" Olthen almost looked excited at the prospect.
"You promised you wouldn't hurt anyone." I interrupted, glaring at him.
"I promised I wouldn't hurt anyone who gives in. There will be some who resist the greater good, Will. They fear change, even when it's for the better. Otherwise I wouldn't need to be doing this."
"...Just tell me what you know about Rose."
"Prisoner 17." He corrected.
"They have names, Olthen. They're humans too." I argued. Rose was new, but she was kind to me. Upon arrival, a lot of people just tried to kill me, like Myra, but Rose wasn't like that. I quickly thought back to when she whimpered when I grabbed her arm too tight and felt guilt shoot through me. Then the fear in Myra's eyes when I walked into her cell with that syringe. I hate doing this, but I have to. I need to.
"Don't get attached, Will. There will be consequences." Olthen's face contorted into a snarl. I flinched back a bit. He would never hurt me, but sometimes there was a certain lack of humanity in him that sent shivers down my spine.
"Yes, Olthen." I dipped my head to show respect, hoping he would start to talk about Rose.
"Hmm, ok here we go. Prisoner 17." Olthen flipped through the other files quickly and pulled out a much smaller one. "There's not much here on her, but I've collected that she has the ability to merge her powers with Prisoner 16. So watch out for that if they do attempt to use their powers. Also... I discovered an unexpected power of Prisoner 17's while we were trailing her. It appears she obtains a singing voice much like a siren's... I believe she's unaware of this, but Prisoner 16 knows for certain..." Olthen mumbled, talking more to himself than to me. He scribbled down some more notes onto both Myra's and Rose's files before looking back up at me. "Have you fed them yet?"
