Rose's POV:
We've been traveling for a month now and we're nearing Khione's castle. I talked to Nathan with Ben and Cole, and we've come up with a plan. We don't want anyone to know that we're here. But, if Nathan is spotted while scouting, he is to pretend to be a lost demigod and go with anything the person that spotted him says. It'll raise suspicion if anything else happens. Nathan said he'd be fine, but if worse came to worse, he'd do it. But, while Ben, Cole, and I stayed behind trees, in the shadows, we'd be watching. Nathan began to sneak off and came to a crowd of trees. He came back and started to talk. "It's a girl. Brown hair, short stature, has a sheath an-" Cole cut him off.
"It's Myra. Let's go, come on. We can get her right now!" He began to get up excitedly. Nathan grabbed his arm and pulled him down and we all crouched in a circle.
"No. There are definitely people watching her... we'd be ambushed on sight if we just went in like that. If you guys want to complete your quest, we've got to get in the castle..." he started to think. "She's probably seen the fire by now, she obviously just crossed its path a few minutes ago."
"Well, what're we going to do?" Cole asked in annoyance.
"I'll get in. She's looking for something, Khione wouldn't let her out for any other reason than that. I'll try to tackle her..."
"What? Why?" I asked giving him a confused look.
"That's what I did to Leo when I was younger. He was sent out to get me and bring me back to camp, but I saw him before he saw me. That was my first instinct. She may think I'm a lost demigod and bring me back to Khione's Castle."
"Think it'll work?" Ben asked.
"Positive. I'll get in and try to get back to you guys soon to give you a layout overview. Give me a week. If I don't come back by then... then I want you guys to come in." We all nodded in agreement. He got up and headed over to the trees and when she was close, he jumped and disappeared slightly. We could only see movement and could, faintly, hear a conversation. We didn't dare move an inch until we knew they were gone. After about ten minutes, we headed in the other direction for a few minutes and then set up a small camp in another clearing in the woods. All this was was a waiting game now.
"We've waited this long, what's another week?" I said. Cole looked at me with a weak smile.
"Guess so. I just hate this. She was right there. It hurt so much. Even just to see her would've made me feel better about this, ya know?" I smiled sadly at him. This must be killing him.
"I get what you're saying. It sucks, I know. But Nathan saw her. She's fine, that means. Doesn't that give you some confidence?"
"I guess I never thought about it. Yeah... it does actually. I just can't wait for this week to be over..." he whispered the last part.
"I know, Cole. I know." Ben finished starting a small fire and asked Cole if he wanted to go hunt for some food. He said "sure" and got up. He needed to clear his head, I could tell. Ben asked me if I wanted to come too, but I said I'd stay here and keep watch on the small area. They left, and I watched them. Silence was great. I needed a swim... but that would be foolish. I just sat there, staring. Thinking. I had a feeling there would be a lot of this for the next week. I sighed aloud. A long week was ahead.
Nathan's POV:
I jumped out, trying to tackle Myra in a similar way that I did to Leo. She was farther away from the tree than I thought and fell right on my face. I looked up at her.
"Were you trying to crush me?" She laughed at me as I gave her a smile.
"I-uhh..." I stuttered and sat up to get a better look at her. I tried to sound as nervous as possible. Or at least like I would if I was a demigod with no idea of anything that was going on. "My name's Nathaniel." I said looking at her.
