Myra's POV:
"Viper, come here. I need you to meet someone." I called over to Viper. She seemed annoyed that I had bothered her yet again. She told me only to really bother her when I thought I remembered something or when we needed to make an announcement to the demigods. Viper walked over to us, her eyes immediately scanning Nathan up and down in a way that made me uncomfortable. "Viper. This is Nathan. Nathan, Viper." I introduced.
"Hmm..." She said idly. "Is Pretty Boy a fighter?" Viper started running her hands up and down Nathan's arm. I shouldn't have felt so angry, but I did anyways. I found him first. Honestly! Finders keepers!
"Nathan is not a fighter. But he diminished Orthrus pretty well, so I'd say he has a lot of potential." I replied quickly and placed my hand on Nathan's shoulder. Viper shot me a look that said 'If you don't take him I will.' I glared back. Poor Nathan obviously had no idea what was going on. He kept looking at the two of us like a confused puppy.
"Well that is pretty impressive. How'd you do it?" Viper continued our conversation, although it sounded a little strained to me.
"Well I guess I just copied what Hailstorm did when she jumped on the... thing. And I kinda just stabbed it." Nathan shrugged and scratched the back of his neck absentmindedly.
"With what?" Viper asked incredulously. Nathan almost caught me staring at him again so I looked at Viper to compose myself. I needed to end this conversation before she got too close to him again.
"My sword. I was down for the count and threw him it and he got the job done. Enough questions, Viper. You can go now." I said, trying to get Viper to leave. She rolled her eyes at me and left. "We've gotta get you a weapon. Or at least practice with someone's." I turned back to Nathan.
"Ok, where do I get a weapon?" He asked. He didn't sound nearly as excited as I'd hoped. Picking out weapons for the new kids was one of my favorite things to do around here.
"Follow me." I needed to play it cool in front of him. I tried to seem disinterested as we walked into the weapons room. "You can look around here. If there's anything you like, just show it to me and I'll check it." I intended on watching Nathan, but I was quickly distracted by a pair of shiny throwing knives on the wall. I picked one of them up and started inspecting it.
"What's this? Can't be a weapon." Nathan's quiet voice startled me out of my thoughts. I placed the knife back on the hook and walked over to him. He was holding a ring of some sort.
"Not sure..." I reached out to take it, but he put it on his finger. I watched curiously as he moved his hand into better lighting. Suddenly the ring transformed into a shiny axe. The blade was engraved with designs and so was the handle. It was amazing.
"What the-! C-can I have this!? This is sick!" Nathan asked, but I was too enraptured to answer. I grabbed the axe right out of his hands and started studying the carvings. The metal felt cool against my fingertips as I traced them with fascination.
"I-I" I couldn't even speak. This axe was one of the coolest weapons I had ever seen! Based on the metal it was definitely Stygian Iron, just like my sword. The hilt was just as intricate as the blade.
"M-... Snowflake? Can I keep it?" Nathan repeated the question softly. I snapped out of my thoughts and looked back up at him, axe still in hand.
"Y-Yeah, of course. It seems to be Stygian Iron so it'll do. You got lucky, it's an absolutely amazing weapon. If you didn't find it, then I'd definitely take it for myself." He smiled at me and I reluctantly handed the axe back to him.
"Awesome. So, are we going to train? I can't wait to use this thing." I couldn't stop the smile coming to my face. I wanted to see this axe in action so badly.
