Modern Vlad my pals.
I hate the ending to this and just know that it did not turn out how I wanted it to at all. I was gonna write it differently but by the time I got to the turning point I already had to many words. But oh well you get what you get right?

Song: just tonight by the pretty reckless

I stepped quickly down the street trying to avoid peoples wandering gazes. I looked down for a second to make sure I wouldn't walk on anyone when I barreled straight into a fairly tall stranger. I leaned back for a second, holding my hands up in defense of myself, quietly apologized, and walked off without looking at his face to long. He didn't seem to try to study me but I had no time to look back at him once I was on my way again. I was already late and would be severely punished as it was.

I paced down the stairs of the cathedral in slow strides, I was relieved after the meeting I had just attended. The head of the clan had scheduled our meeting for a later time so in actuality I wasn't late. As I stepped off the last stair I ran into another person, or so I thought. I looked up to see the man I had ran into earlier and quickly apologized for the inconvenience. He seemed to think nothing of it and was fixated on the cathedral behind me. I went to walk around him when he caught my arm lightly, bring his gaze down to my face.

"What is that building used for?"

He seemed serious in his questioning which made me a bit nervous. Maybe he was a practicing Wiccan?

"Um it used to be a church but it was bought out by a drug cartel for underground deals and now it is owned by a small family of practicing wiccans and witches."

He looked from me to the building in confusion.

"You are one of them I suppose?"

I drew my eyebrows together.

"What's it to you?"

"If you are a practicing witch I could greatly use your help."

I pulled my arm away from his grasp, crossing both my arms over my chest.

"What exactly did you need help with? If you killed someone I can't bless their body."

I raised my arms in defense and then let them fall, hitting my thighs lightly. He laughed a little at my statement.

"No no nothing like that, I'm trying to find someone and could really use a tracking spell. If you're willing to help me."

I looked from him to the cathedral then back to him.

"I'm not very good but I can try. I just started practicing a few years ago and only have a few of the basic spell books."

"Any little thing helps. I owe you my gratitude and if we succeed will pay you great sums of money."

I laughed a little and nudged the ground with my shoe.

"When do you wanna start?"

I sat in front of my small wooden altar. To the left side was my spell book and wand. The altar had a pentagram carved into it and held a brown candle just above the five point star, used to locate lost things. I looked across from me at the man I now knew as Vlad. He looked at the floor around us and fidgeted with his hands in his lap.

"Is the ring of salt necessary?"

I glared at him as I looked through the last written page in my book of shadows.

"Yes, it is used to draw in and keep energy, it will also keep any unwanted spirits out if this spell goes wrong. Which I'm hoping it won't but since I wrote it myself we'll just have to see."
