Song: freak like me by halestorm
+++++++++
I ran quickly to keep up with the bus. It had left a good few hours ago and we were making pretty good time. I knew I'd be beyond tired by the time we got to the next city though. I kept glancing over at it as I ran, trying to also hide myself behind the trees to the side of the road. I glanced over again, seeing Chris standing at the window, staring out at me. For a second I wondered if he actually knew it was me or if he was just looking at something else.
As we got closer to town I could see the sun beginning to rise, knowing full well I'd be changing back into my human form within the hour. As the bus came to a halt so did I, panting vigorously as I dropped my bag to the ground from it's holding place between my teeth. I let out a long howl before crouching down and slowly turning back into myself. Yelling as i felt my bones crack and bend back into their natural shape. I laid face first, naked on the ground for a minute, trying not to fall asleep. The first night was always the most exhausting. Then I heard voices, making me jolt upright and take the dress I had packed out of my bag and throwing it over my head. As I stood up to finish getting dressed I could see Chris in the distance, peering into the woods.
"Come on man, don't you want food?"
I watched as Ryan hit his arm, making chris look back at him.
"Uh yeah I'll be right in."
"Whatever."
Ryan said, making his way to the door with the rest of the crew. I walked closer and closer, popping out of the trees and making him shake his head.
"Okay, so you're in the woods. In a different outfit. And you smell like a dog. And I'm starting to actually believe you."
I laughed a little, clutching onto my backpack a little tighter.
"I told you what I was Chris. I wasn't kidding. I just changed back, ya know, when the sun came up."
I pulled my hair back into a ponytail, it still being a little wet.
"The dog smell is cause well I'm a dog but it snowed through like half the trip here."
I rolled my eyes.
"God I hate running in snow, it gets clumped in my paws, and makes my fur all matted."
I made a gross face and he laughed.
"I can't believe this is real."
I shook my head and walked with him towards the venue, slipping My crew pass over my head.
"Maybe I could show you my wolf form sometime, although you wouldn't like the transformation process. It's kinda gross."
He laughed as we walked into the small dining section were everyone was already sat around, eating. No one noticing us yet.
"Why does it smell like wet dog in here all of a sudden?"
Ryan laughed, taking a drink. The rest of the guys smiling and laughing too.
"that is kinda weird."
Ricky said, noting it too. Chris just sent me a knowing look and I rolled my eyes.
"I don't know Ryan, maybe it's you."
I quipped back, making him jump.
"shit, y/n, when did you get here?"
He said looking up at Chris and I.
"You weren't on the bus were you?"
He asked a little concerned. I sent another knowing look to Chris before shaking my head.
"Uh no, I had to go do something last night, I just got here."
He nodded as he took a bite of his bagel.
"Well it's good to see you made it in one piece. And on time."
He raised his cup to me in cheers before taking another drink, the other guys laughing a little.
"Thanks."
I raised my brows at him before making my way to the buffet style bar, Chris right behind me the whole time.
"So how long have you been like this?"
I laughed at him as I filled my plate.
"My whole life, it's a blood line thing, thats kinda how it works."
He rolled his eyes at me.
"That's not what I meant. I meant like, how long have you been changing? And what are you gonna do about your job? You can't just disappear every night, we need you to do the shows."
I frowned at him as we walked to an empty table together.
"First off I've been changing since I was 16. The cultures of old saw that as adulthood so that's when it first starts. And second I have no idea what I'm gonna do."
He looked like he was debating something with himself.
"Could Logan just cover for you?"
I shrugged.
"And what am I gonna tell him? My family is cursed so I can't do my job until the full moon is over?"
We both started eating.
"I guess you're right."
I sighed.
"We can't exactly do much else and it's not like I can just hold it off. I've tried postponing it before and I passed the fuck out after for almost three days."
He raised his brows at me.
"Well shit. It does that much damage to your body?"
I nodded.
"Yeah, and that's if I can will it. The first one is always the hardest and that's over. So I Mean I could try it but the next time I change it's gonna be real aggressive."
I made a face that made him laugh as I finished eating.
"Hungry?"
He asked, laughing a little but and I nodded quickly.
"You have no idea."
I said getting up for more. When I came back he was just about done too.
"So, do you wanna try to hold it off just until the show is over? Or would that be bad?"
I side nodded.
"I think I could, but I'd have to leave as soon as we are done. Change out back and meet you at the next venue."
He nodded to me.
"I could help cover for you if you want."
He said, popping a strawberry into his mouth.
"Thanks Chris, that would be so beyond helpful. But you can't tell anyone."
He crossed his finger over his chest.
"Your secret is safe with me."
