In case you didn't know this is an Agent Carter story. It doesn't really take place with the AC timeline but that's alright. This isn't exactly what I had in mind when I started but I still like the way it turned out.

I don't really think the song goes with the story exactly but I definitely think the lyrics go great with Jack's Character.

We entered the hotel and made our way to the front desk. The woman looked between the two of us and smiled at our groggy faces.

"How can I help you two tonight?"

I went to speak when jack spoke up over me.

"We need two rooms please."

He flashed a smile to her quickly as she turned to the book in front of her.

"Oh I'm sorry we only have one left, and by the looks of it, it's a room with only one queen."

She looked up at the two of us with a disappointed face and held up the key. Before jack could speak I grabbed it from her hand.

"We'll take it, one bed is better than no bed."

I glared at jack who grumbled and pulled out his wallet. He paid the woman and we made our way to the room in silence, both of us peering over our shoulders from time to time on our walk upstairs. As we entered the room I walked across the room and slumped down on the corner of the bed.

"Don't expect me to sleep on the floor or in the chair sweetheart."

I looked up at him and then over to the red cushioned chair he was pointing to. I looked back to him and pulled my blazer off.

"I would never. Agent Thompson. But you do have to get comfortable with the idea of sleeping next to me tonight."

He pushed himself away from the door and walked to the opposite side of the bed.

"Guess so."

I stood and made my way to the bathroom to clean up a little. It had been a long, uneventful, evening and I had been shot at too many times. We were both being chased after digging around on a case and this one bed hotel room was the safest place at the moment. I stared into my tired eyes in the mirror and rubbed my wet hands all over my face. If I had to deal with Thompson complaining the whole time I was at least gonna get some much needed alone time, even if it meant not yet getting some much needed rest. Suddenly there was a knock on the bathroom door and I just sighed.

"You take that long in the bathroom when you don't have to get ready?"

I could hear the annoyance in his voice, I just tapped my foot twice before opening the door with a smile.

"Of course not jack, but I gotta try to look somewhat presentable to sleep next to you, right?"

I pushed past him and sat on the one side of the bed. He just looked at me with furrowed brows. He opened his mouth to say something before closing it and shaking his head.

"And jack-"

He poked his head back out of the door frame.

"Make sure you turn the light out when you come back."

He just scoffed and closed the door. I kicked my shoes off and got under the covers, closing my eyes, and awaiting a pleasant sleep. I waited for what seemed like forever but my brain wouldn't let me sleep until I knew jack was done and safe next to me. We didn't see eye to eye most times but he was my partner and I didn't want anything bad to happen. I kept my eyes closed as he approached the bed and turned the light out on the nightstand. I held my breath waiting for the bed to sink next to me but it didn't. I rolled over and saw jack in the chair rubbing his hands over his face. I just rolled back over and closed my eyes again, letting a smirk creep to my hidden features.

"I thought you said you weren't sleeping on the floor or in the chair."

He let out an amused sigh.

"Ya got me there."

I heard his feet pad across the floor before feeling the bed sink next to me. He let out a loud exhausted sigh signaling that he felt just as tired as I did. I rolled over to face him and was met with his half closed eyes staring back me.

"I'm sorry I got us into this jack."

He just shrugged his shoulder and turned to lie flat on his back.

"At least you didn't take this case alone. Who knows, if I hadn't'a been there to save you..."

I pushed his shoulder as we both laughed quietly.

"Seriously though, I guess my curiosity just got the better of me."

He tilted his head to look at me, eyes completely open but dazed over a bit.

"You were just doing your job, can't blame you for that."

I pulled my hand closer to my face, looking down at the mattress.

"Yeah, I guess you can't."

I looked back at him and half smiled before rolling over on my other side, away from him. I heard him move once more before finally falling asleep.

I woke up to the back of Jack's head and the morning light peaking through the windows. It was barely Dawn and I wanted nothing more than to fall back asleep until the sun was fully up. I sighed a little and rubbed my eyes, letting a shiver run through my body. True I was covered with a fairly thick blanket but I couldn't help feeling a slight chill. I ran my hand across my arm and looked up to see jack peering over his shoulder at me. I let out a small sigh as he rolled over fully to face me.

"Cold?"

He whispered lightly. His voice was deep and sleep ridden. I just slowly nodded my head yes. His eyes where still half closed as he moved a little closer to me and wrapped his arms around my shoulders. I was snuggled into his chest but still shivered a little at the contact. I looked up only to be met with his chin which he used to push my head down into his neck. He rested it lightly on top of my head and hummed to himself for a second. I huffed into his chest.

"Go back to bed."

This sentence was said louder than a whisper but still fairly quiet. I decided to skip out on any protesting because I didn't want to face a tired jack. He didn't seem to appreciate me tangling my legs with his to get my feet to warm up. As soon as I placed my freezing toes on his lower leg he gasped and pulled away a bit. I just laughed and pulled my feet back to my side of the bed.

"Damn y/n do you have any blood?"

I let out a small laugh.

"Would you believe me if I said yes?"

"No."

I smiled against his chest as he pulled me tighter to him.

"Go back to bed."

"Yes chief."

Soon he fell back asleep, as did I, listening to his light snores.
