I knocked on Vinnys door and waited for him to answer. When he did he smiled widely at me.
"You got the goods?"
He asked and I held up the bag from Walmart.
"All three of em."
I said as he let me in.
"That's a lot. Are you sure we need that many?"
I shrugged.
"How should I know, I've never taken a pregnancy test before."
We both laughed a little bit as I sat down in his couch.
"Id rather be safe than sorry so I got a few."
He came and sat next to me as I pulled them out of the bag and set them on the coffee table. He picked one up and looked it over, it had two tests inside.
"Do you know what the lines mean?"
He looked at me and I nodded.
"Yeah but it's in the instructions what they mean too. And if it's unclear I got this one."
I held up the electronic one that actually tells you if youre pregnant or not with real words. He took it from me and looked over it.
"Do we do this together or?"
I laughed.
"Vin I think I can pee on them by myself."
He blushed and laughed nervously.
"Right."
He handed me back the test and I stood up with the two boxes in my hands.
"Moment of Truth."
I walked into the bathroom and inhaled deeply. This really was it. This was the moment that decided our future together as friends and as parents. I opened the boxes and set the tests in the counter, reading over the instructions. I did as told and put the caps back on then when I was finished. I washed my hands and set a time on my phone, looking at myself in the mirror. I jumped when Vinny knocked on the door.
"Things going okay in there?"
I held my chest and shook my head, opening the door.
"They were until you just scared the shit out of me."
He smiled and scratched the back of his neck.
"Sorry bout that."
I grabbed the tests and walked past him back out to the living room.
"So, how long do we wait?"
I held my phone up for him to see the timer.
"Okay, what do you wanna do while we wait?"
I shrugged and fell into the couch.
"I don't know, what do you want to do?"
He sat down next to me.
"Wanna watch baby videos?"
He looked at me and we both laughed.
"Why the hell not."

When the timer went off we both looked at each other and then looked down at the three face down tests in the coffee table. Before I even had a chance to move he jolted forward and picked one up. He looked at it before showing it to me. I took it from him, eyes wide and picked up the other one. They were the same. I handed then both back to him before picking up the digital one. There it was. Right in front of my eyes in big letters. Pregnant. He looked over my shoulder at it and when I looked back at him he had the widest smile on his face.
"We're pregnant."
I said in disbelief. Then I looked back at the test.
"We're pregnant!"
I yelled, jumping up. He stood too and hugged me tightly, spinning me in circles.
"We're pregnant!"
He repeated, putting me down and kissing me passionately. I held his face and we he pulled away we smiled like idiots at each other. He hugged me again.
"Holy shit were gonna have a baby."
He pulled away from me, looking down at me and offering his hand for a high five.
"We went halves on a baby!"
He said excitedly as I slapped his hand with mine.
"Dude our family and friends are gonna flip."
We both laughed as we sat back down on the couch together. He looked over at me endearingly.
"Dude I don't even care. I get to be a co parent with my best friend. What's cooler than that?"
I smiled at him.
"Absolutely nothing vin."
He looked back down at the test in his hands admiringly.
"Now we get to do something special to tell everyone."
He looked back at me.
"Oooo can we do like a party or something and invite everyone and do something crazy like a piñata with papers in it saying like grandma and Aunt and uncle and stuff on them?"
I laughed a little and ran my hand through his hair a few times.
"I'm not so sure they'll all take lightly to that but we can think more on it."
He nodded and looked back down at the test, turning it in his hands.
"I'm just so excited."
I smiled down at him.
"Me too vin, me too."
