Leona yawned as she walked down the stairs with the baby in her arms. The principle of her school had given her a few months before she had to return to school. The little of had woke her up at three in the morning for a feed and had only just settled down.
As she sat on the couch her parents came down, looking just as tired as she was.
"I'm sorry about the noise." She yawned as her mother sat next to her and her father went for some coffee.
"It's alright dea, we think your doing a great job with her." She smiled stroking the little one's head. Just then Kitsune came down the stairs with a small smile on her face.
"Hello my dears, how are you all doing this morning?" She asked happily.
"Tired." Leo groaned.
"Well, that's children for you, keep driving you crazy but it doesn't stop you loving them."
As the ladies continued to talk the phone started ringing. Tigerclaw looked at her family before answering.
"Hello?"
"H-Hello Mr. Saiyo, it's Mr. Faris." A weak voice said from the other side.
"Oh, Mr. Faris!" He exclaimed, catching the the girls' attention. Alopex quickly got up and walked over to him.
"Listen, I know that this might be a bit bold and feel free to say no but I was wondering if I could come over and have a word?"
"Uh... Just a second please." He said and turned to his wife with a worried look on his face. "Well?"
"Well, we can't turn the poor man away." She said and her husband nodded in agreement.
"Yes Mr. Faris, that's fine. Shall we say around noon?" He asked.
"Thank you, I'll be there." He said before hanging up.
"If you'd rather not see him then you could always take the baby up stairs." He said but Leo shook her head.
"No, I want to hear what he has to say."...
******
That afternoon was a nervous one in the Saiyo household. Kitsune had gone to the store and the others were sat in the living room watching TV as they waited for Neil to arrive.
Suddenly there was a light knock on the door and they all shared a look before Alopex went to open it.
Tigerclaw placed a reassuring hand on his daughter's shoulder, who was holding her baby close, as Alopex came back with Neil behind her. The human man looked terrible.
He had bags under his eyes, his skin was pale and his hair was a mess.
"Hi." He muttered nervously.
"Hello." Tigerclaw replied.
"Listen, I know what Brenda did, taking the baby, was terrible but she didn't mean any harm, she was just sick, people just didn't how sick." He explained.
"We know, and we're very sorry for your lose, nobody deserved the fate she suffered." Alopex smiled.
"I-I reported Lisa Summers and they're investigating the incident, apparently this wasn't the first time she had pressured young mothers to give up their babies and there's a very good chance of her losing her job."
"Good, she's the cause of all this." Leo glared.
"I just wanted you too know that I'm sorry and I'm sure Brenda is too, she never meant to hurt people, she just wanted to be a mother, even if it was for a moment; if she was here now she'd probably say sorry but she's not so I'm saying it for her. I just wanted you to know that." He sniffed before quickly walking out the door.
"Poor man." Kitsune said sadly.
"Yeah, and seeing me with my baby's probably made it worse." Leo sighed before going up to put the baby down for a nap...
