Alopex sighed as she sat alone in the kitchen, eating her toast. Her and Tigerclaw were still a bit tense and it hadn't been any better since Adam had shown up at their door.

"So who was that the other day?" A voice suddenly asked. Alopex looked up and saw Kitsune standing beside her.

"He's just some guy I met at the Christmas party and he seems very nice." She replied.

"And did you happen to mention that you're married?"

"Mother!"

"What? Most men these days are just after a pretty thing, trust me, I know."

"Right, let me go ask one of your dead husbands for advice."

"Watch it lady." Kitsune warned. "You may be an adult but talk to me like that again it'll get you a clip around the ear.

"It doesn't matter anyway, Adam's invited me out for a quiet drink tonight, he's way of properly apologising, and I'm going."

"It's your life honey you're entitled to mess it up anyway you want." Kitsune shrugged before snatched a piece of toast and walking away. Alopex just shook her head and went back to her thoughts...

That night, while the rest of the family were at home, Alopex went to the bar with Adam Oscar. As they drink they started getting to know each other better.

"So you don't have any brothers or sisters?" Adam asked the mutant fox with a friendly smile on his face.

"No, it's just been me, my mother, husband, daughter and granddaughter." She smiled.

"You don't look old enough to be a granny."

"Well, I'm am." She shrugged. "So what about you? What's your family like."

"Not perfect." He admitted with a sigh. "My mother had me when she was fifteen and my grandparents were very upset about it, so when I was born they pretended I was their son and my mother was my sister."

"Whoa."

"Yeah, I didn't know until they told me when I was fourteen, when I found out I ran away from home and went to live with a family friend on his farm until I landed I job here."

"What do you do?"

"I'm a financial adviser for the museum. I don't really go to big parties, especially when I don't really know anyone but I wanted to have some fun." He chuckled.

"I know what you mean, me and my husband haven't had a night out since our granddaughter was born."

"Surely the child's mother can look after her."

"It's not that simple, you see, Yukiko is only one and my daughter Leona is only sixteen so me and my family try and give her some freedom as a teenager but it's hard." She sighed.

"I understand, if there's anything I can do just let me know."

"I appreciate that, thank you." She smiled. Just then an idea popped into her head. "Actually, there is one thing."...
