Regrets

The First Visit

The next day Leo cleaned the apartment from top to bottom for Catherine's visit. She was really looking forward to spending time with a member of her biological family and she knew these visits would help the older turtle too.

"Are ya sure about this?" Raph asked as she fixed the cushions on the couch.

"Yeah I am, she's my grandmother and I want to get to know her." Leo replied.

Before Raphael could say anything else there was a buzzing coming from the apartment intercom, signalling someone wanted to come up to their apartment.

"Hello? Oh come on up!"Leo smiled and pressed the button. After a few moments of footsteps on the stairs leading to the third floor there was a knock on their door.

"Thank you." Catherine smiled nervously as Leo welcomed her in.

"How are you?" Leo asked her.

"Oh I'm fine thanks, I was just passing and you did say to keep in touch." She smiled. "And you must be Raphael." She smiled at Raph.

"Yeah, my friends call me Raph, I'm sorry ta heard about yer daughter and that." He said sincerely.

Catherine's smile faltered slightly and she looked away.

"Um, it's a bit of a mess." Leo said, looking around the small apartment.

"Not at all, it looks very nice, your obviously a very mature and sensible couple, just the type to brig up a lovely child." She reassured.

"Oh weren't not a couple." Leo quickly said much to Raph's disappointment. "Catherine met Yuki at the...you know, and they got one really well." She told him.

"Like I said she's a credit to you, well, to both of you, is she in?"

"Yeah she's just playing in her room." Leo smiled, but it soon melted into a glare and she glanced over to the kitchen. "Oh no I left the eggs burning!" She cried and ran over to fix it.

"It's alright dear, these things happen." Catherine smiled.

Raph just stared at her...

After about an hour Catherine had to leave. While she was there she had been able to chat with Leona and play with Yuki.

"It was really nice to see you again." Leo smiled as Catherine got her coat on.

"Well you have no idea how much pleasure it gave me." She smiled.

"Come back any time, right?" Leo asked Raph.

"Yeah, any time."

"Bye then and God bless you all." Catherine said and happily left the apartment.

"Thank Gods." Raph sighed in relief once the old woman had gone.

"Don't be so nasty." Leo glared. "Next time she comes try and be a bit more polite."

"Next time?"

"Well, she is my grandmother." She shrugged.

"Yeah, who didn't exist 'til a few days ago."

"So?"

"Look, I'm sorry I over reacted about tha funeral, it was nice thing ta do but don't ya think that yer Mom and Dad might be worried? And what about Kitsune? She's the grandmother ya've know since ya were a baby."

Leo just sighed...
