What are cavities:
Cavities occur when foods containing carbs (sugars and starches) are left on the teeth. Bacteria that live in the mouth digest these foods, turning them into acids. The bacteria, acid, food debris, and saliva combine to form plaque. The acids in plaque dissolve the enamel surface of the teeth, creating holes called cavities.

Brush your teeth:
Use a toothpaste that contains fluoride and brush 20 minutes after a meal, especially before bed. Do not brush directly after a meal because your enamel is soft and can be damaged.

Floss:
Using a flosser can get rid of any food that gets stuck between your teeth to prevent them from turning into the acids.

Carbohydrates and sugars:
As said above, carbs and sugars are the main cause of cavities. You don't have to remove them completely from your diet, but just be more cautious.

Mouthwash:
Many mouthwashes contain ingredients to help strengthen teeth, kill germs, and contain fluoride. Make sure you use it every time you brush your teeth.
