Tip One:
The simplest way to break a nail biting habit is to cover each nail. You can use bandaids or a pair of mittens or gloves. Even latex gloves work! Cover them up to force yourself to resist biting.
•
Tip Two:
Dip your nails into nail polish remover every morning to make them taste bitter and nasty. (Acetone is not edible, so please only do this if you're confident you will resist.)
•
Tip Three:
Wear a rubber band around your wrist. If you start to bite your nails, snap it. Eventually, your mind will relate biting nails with pain, and you'll stop.
•
Tip Four:
Cut a juicy jalapeño pepper in half and rub it on your nails. This will burn the open cuts and leave a horrible taste.
•
Tip Five:
Try getting tips. Fake nails can be applied at a salon or at home, and by having them, you get out of the habit of biting your nails. They also look a lot better than the tiny nubs most people tend to get used to.
•
Tip Six:
Usually nail biting is caused by stress. Try relaxing or taking up a hobby that you have a lot of fun doing.
•
Tip Seven:
Keep a nail file with you at all times. So whenever you feel the urge to bite, swipe your nails with it a few times.
•
Tip Eight:
Think of how much bacteria may be under your nails. Then think about what you've done today that might have gotten under them also. That totally grosses some people out, so your nails don't go near your mouth.
•
Tip Nine:
We pay so much to get our nails looking fabulous, so why ruin them? If your nails have a fresh coat of polish, you'll be less likely to bite them and mess them up. Gel manicures are also a great way to eliminate this habit. Since they last longer than just a week, you nails will have plenty of time to grow long and strong.
