Chapter 23: Past

"I'M SORRY baby, hindi na matutuloy ang pagpunta natin sa amusement park."

Napasimangot ako sa sinabi ni Mommy. Again?  Last month din nasabi niya na hindi matutuloy kasi busy si Daddy. 

"Why Mommy? I wanna ride the roller coaster. Daddy promised right? Right? It's my birthday today, so please Mommy."

My mommy sighed and touched my face. She looks sad, maybe because she wants to ride the roller coaster too.

"Can we celebrate your birthday here Jared? We can invite your friends if you want."

I pouted. "I have no friends."

Last year, I celebrated my birthday here in our house and it was so boring. I hate the clowns and the adult visitors. They're so annoying and loud.

"Kaibigan mo si Winston."

"He doesn't talk."

Mommy hugged me. "I'm sorry son, I wish I could do something for your birthday."

"Then let's go to the amusement park Mommy."

"No."

Napapadyak ako. "I want to go there!"

"Jared, don't be a bad boy. Magagalit si Daddy sa'yo."

Napaiyak na ako. I want to ride a roller coaster. Why can't they understand? "I wanna go! I wanna go!"

"Jared, I'm upset now. Daddy will be upset too. You're being a brat."

"I hate you and Daddy! You promised last time. Sabi mo punta tayo sa amusement park but you lied."

"What's the matter here?"

"Hon, nagagalit ang anak mo dahil gusto niya raw magpunta ng amusement park."

"Don't worry son, we will go there today so be ready and stop crying."

I stopped crying. Yihey! I clapped my hands. I am so happy and excited. 

"Arthur! You know we can't." 

Daddy smiled at Mommy and hugged her. "Let me make it up to both of you. Sisiguraduhin ko na ligtas tayong lahat sa paglabas natin."

Bumuntong-hininga ulit si Mommy saka tumango. Lumapit naman si Yaya Lita sa akin para mag-ready na ako. I wore my favorite Batman shirt and shoes. I was so excited on our way to the amusement park . That was the happiest birthday ever. Sumakay ako sa roller coaster, and Daddy and I ate delicious ice cream. It was sooo good. Ang kaso biglang nag-rain pauwi namin sa house. 

"Jared, huwag na masyadong brat next time because you're going to be a big brother."

"You will get a new baby mommy?" takang tanong ko. 

Tumango si mommy saka nakangiting ginulo ni daddy ang buhok ko. "It's our gift for you young man, hindi ba gusto mo ng kapatid?"

Tumango ako saka ngumiti. Yihey! This is the best birthday ever. "I'm gonna be a big brother! I'm gonna be a big brother!" 

Natawa naman sina Mommy and Daddy. I kissed both of them on the cheeks. Tapos biglang nag-stop ang car namin. Muntik na akong mahulog sa upuan, mabuti nalang nahawakan ako ni daddy.

"Tonyo, what's wrong?" tanong ni Daddy sa driver namin. 

"A-Arthur!" biglang sabi ni mommy sabay turo sa harapan ng car namin.
