Chapter Forty-Nine

Saphrin's POV

I woke up to my phone buzzing. Really fast and really loud. I picked it up and checked the screen. An unknown number was calling me.

I slid my finger across the screen and put the phone up to my ear.

(S=Saphrin • UN=Unknown Number)

UN: "Hello, is this Saphrin Hyland?"

S: "Uh yes, why?"

UN: "This is the local hospital of Destin, Florida."

S: "Okay, what's wrong?"

UN: "Your grandmother has fallen down the stairs at home."

UN: "As of calling a family relative, and knowing your mothers passing. You have been the only one left reliable to come and visit by her request."

I felt tears sting my eyes, since I didn't have any feeling I let them fall anywhere they pleased.

S: "O-Oh, okay. I'll be out a-as soon as I c-can." I sniffled.

UN: "We will email you the address, thank you for supporting your grandmother through the injury taken place. We hope-" I hung up, I didn't want to hear the rest.

She fell down the stairs. My grandma is about 76 years old. Even though it's not a serious possibility of death, she's still injured.

Besides my mom dying, my best friend leaving me and now my grandma is hurt and in the hospital all the way down in Florida. What am I supposed to do?

I looked back at my phone and called Cameron. It rung for a while and picked up on the fourth ring.

"Hello." His raspy morning voice appeared in my ear. I pulled the phone away from my head real quick to see what the time was, 10:39 am. He's just now waking up, although so did I.

"Hey, Cam. I need you. Now." I said still sobbing, I never actually stopped.

I never heard him reply, so I got a little worried.

"Hello? Cameron?" I asked.

No answer. I looked at the screen and he had hung up. I locked my phone and ran my fingers through my hair. I waited.

Only 2 minutes later, I heard a knock on the door. I jolted up and ran down the stairs. I swung the door open and locked my eyes with Cameron's. They were sparkling through the glossy layer that covered them.

Cameron's POV

The door flew open and there stood Saphrin still sobbing. When she called me all I heard was she need me and she was sobbing. I couldn't help but think what's going on, every time I hear or see Saphrin cry it makes me weak because I hate to see her cry.

The whole time I changed into clothes to go over to Saphrin's house because I didn't want to arrive in my pajamas I cried. On my way over aka running across the street I whipped my tears and calmed down.

I picked her up baby style and carried her to her room. I laid her down slowly and slid next to her. I wrapped my arms around her and scooted her closer. I played with her tangled, silky blossom smelling hair.

"You're okay. Your grandma is going to be okay. It's okay." I cooed. I didn't get any response.

"Okay?" I continued.

"Okay." She turned over and looked at my eyes. I pecked her lips slowly, I felt a little tremble in them. She nodded and buried her head into my chest.

"Everything will be okay." I whispered. Not long after I had entered my own state of mind.
