Zoe's POV

War, shakespeare, formulas, biospheres: we're halfway through the last finals week ever and I still have four more exams I can't stop thinking about all at once. I tried to study with Ashton a few times but he was too distracting. I don't actually know how much of our english he retained. I hope he does well.

"Zoe!" I look to my left and see Luke staring at me.

"Why are you yelling at me?" I ask him and he rolls his eyes.

"Are you kidding I was trying to get your attention for five minutes, you were in some kind of trance." I didn't even notice.

"Oh, well what's up?"

"I need help with Lucy. She keeps telling me she wants me to prompose- whatever that means- and I need your help."

"Luke, I don't have time to help you at the moment and promposing is just a fancy word for what Ashton did to ask me to formal." He sits for a minute, thinking it over.

"'Prompose' doesn't even make sense." I sigh, knowing I'm not going to get any work done while Luke is here.

"Okay, it would have been ideal for you to do the guitar pick thing because you are one of the guitarist of the band, but it's already been done and she would want something original. Why don't you go to that jewellery shop that sells the princess rings and get her one of those. Get it in silver, she doesn't do rose gold or gold. Then get her a single rose and leave her a note somewhere that says 'will you be my princess at prom'. Simple enough, right?" I look over at Luke to see him writing down what I was saying.

"Thanks, anything else?" He says and I think for a second.

"Red rose not white or any other colour." He gets up ready to put the plan into action straight away.

"Thank you so much Zoe!" He says as he rushes out of the room and towards the stairs. Hopefully she thinks he thought of it by himself.

Two days later I walk out of the exam room with a feeling of relief, like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. My final exam was done and I was ready to celebrate.

"Zoe!" I turn at my name and my spirits lift even more when I see Ashton calling my name.

"How did you go?" I ask him, kind of anxious for the answer because I'm the one who tutored him for english.

"Pretty sure I aced it." He pulls me to him and spins me around, my feet just off the ground.

"That's so good to hear!" I kiss next to his mouth, teasing him and run my fingers through his hair. "Are all your exams done?" I ask and he shakes his head.

"I have my music final tomorrow, but that should be easy." We start walking away from the exam room towards our lockers to gather our things.

"Have you heard anything about Luke asking Lucy to formal?" I ask him changing the subject.

"I heard he's doing it this afternoon. Did you want to watch?" He arches his eyebrow at me and I try not to laugh. It is a bit strange that I would want to watch someone else get asked to formal but I should be there for moral support.

"Well I've got some spare time, and I wouldn't mind sitting around with you." I say to him and he smiles down at me. After we grab our bags from our lockers we head to the building Luke is going to do it. We go up to the second floor so we get a perfect view of the stairs down below. This is a secluded area, so I'm not sure why Luke would do it here, there isn't anything special about it. Ashton sits on the ground and leans against the wall before inviting me to sit between his legs and lean against him.

"I can't believe we're going to be graduating soon." I say after a moment of silence. He wraps his arms around me, which stops me from wondering if that's a good or a bad thing. The combination of having no stress from finishing all my exams and the afternoon sun beating down on us makes me feel warm and comfortable enough to fall asleep right here. Ashton's foot twitches like he is trying stay away himself, but slowly failing. It would be so nice to lie here for a while but out of the corner of my eye I spot two people walking in our direction down on the ground floor. "Ash, they're here." I shake his leg to wake him up and move closer to the balcony so I can see them without being seen.

"What are they doing?" Ashton says while clearing his throat.

"Just talking." I say hoping this operation will go smoothly for Luke's sake. As I say that Luke pulls a piece of paper out of his pocket and hands it to Lucy. She reads it and her hand immediately covers her mouth. Luke then produces the rose and a small ring box from nowhere and her head nods furiously as an answer.

"Wait, he got her a ring?" Ashton scoffs and I look over at him. "He's in waaaay to deep." He sits back and I tilt my head at him.

"What do you think it's a diamond ring?" I laugh at him and he looks confused. "It's a princess ring." Still confused on the difference but willing to give up, he rolls his eyes. I lean in and give him a short sweet kiss before I hear my name being called for the second time that day. I get up and look over the edge of the balcony to see Lucy staring up at me.

"I thought I heard your laugh, Luke promposed!" She squeals and I take it as my queue to go downstairs to celebrate with her.
