Several days later~
Yuki and her mother were walking around Atinila village looking for herbs that would pair well with the food that they had planned for dinner. Yuki was about to point out some to her mom when all of a sudden two arms wrapped around her waist and pulled her into a hug. Now usually this would have startled her and she would have probably thrown this person off of her but she knew this person. "Yuki!" The cheerful voice screamed as the arms tightened around her causing a carefree laugh to slip past her lips "Hello link." She quickly returned his hug before she pulled away. "Link! Slow down son we don't know this town!" His father yelled as he finally caught up only to see that link had already found Yuki and her mother "oh! Hello Alexa and hello Yuki." He said with a smile as he kneeled down to hug the little girl.
"How in Hylia's name did you find her though link? This town is quite big." Yuki's mom laughed "it's not that big. And it's a village." Kaito simply blushed as he realized that "oh I'm sorry." "It's alright Kaito. Most people confuse it for a town." He nodded as he stood up and dusted his pants off "I don't know daddy. I just followed what felt right." He didn't seem unnerved by it as he stood next to Yuki. Both were around the same height but link was just an inch taller. "Yuki and I were just getting the herbs for dinner you're welcome to join us." Yuki smiled as she looked at link "you'll join right?" Link looked at his dad with a pout "can we daddy can we!?" Both Yuki and Link at this point looked at links dad and he laughed "alright, alright." They both laughed as Yuki took his hand and started leading him to her house.
The parents soon followed after them both with a smile "I've never seen her so happy with other kids besides her friend Anya." Kaito looked over confused "she doesn't have any friends?" Her mother shook her head "I'm afraid not. She's always so serious that most of the kids don't like her." Kaito frowned and so did Link who overheard that "but she's so kind and pretty!" Link yelled as he looked back "I know sweetie, but most others don't see that. They only see her as the next heir to the village or they only see her as someone who is constantly training" Link frowned as he remembered that day "do you think I can learn with her?" This caused both parents to stop walking and even Yuki looked at him with wide eyes "what? I want to protect her too."
"We'll have to ask my daddy" "ask your daddy what?" A man suddenly said as Yuki was lifted up onto his shoulders "eeek!" This had clearly startled Yuki as she gripped the mans hair "daddy! That wasn't nice!" She was pouting. She didn't like being snuck up on for anything "sorry Yuki. Oh hello, I'm Yuki's father Hiro" he looked very much like his wife, black hair but his eyes weren't as green "Hello sir, I'm Link. And this is my daddy Kaito." He didn't like seeing Yuki out of his sight or reach "anyway what did you two wish to ask?" He looked at link who had this determined look in his eyes "I want to learn how to use weapons. I want to protect Yuki!" He spoke with conviction and it was easy to see a deep level of dedication to keeping her safe "oh? And what does your dad say about this?"
Link looked at his dad with the same determined looked as he gave hiro "I want to keep her safe daddy please." Kaito looked at his son and simply sighed "I was gonna wait till you were older but I see no harm in letting you start now. Especially since it seems like nothing will change your mind" link grinned as he looked back at Yuki's dad "can I have Yuki back?" Hiro let out a laugh "Nope. You have to get her back." Link frowned before he walked behind Hiro who was talking to his wife and Kaito about how and when Link would start training and when Yuki would train over in hyrule village.
Link reached forward and hit the weak spot on hiro's knee which caused his leg to buckle out from under him "oh!" He fell to his one knee and that allowed Link to grab Yuki and pull her off her fathers shoulder. Yuki started in complete awe as he managed to bring her father down then laughed "you did it!" Hiro chuckled "he did. While it was a bit dangerous I wanted to see how badly he wanted you back." Yuki rolled her eyes but grabbed links hand and started walking again "is saya asleep?" She asked "She is, she's just fallen asleep so I left her in her crib." Yuki nodded "we'll be back I'm gonna show link around."
"Be back before it gets to dark Yuki this way you two can eat!" Yuki and Link yelled back an okay as they disappeared into the crowded road "ah those two. Already inseparable." "Right, it's like they have a special bond." "They do, they've had it since the day they met." The three parents smiled as they went inside letting the kids well, they were letting them be kids.
"Where are we going Yuki?" "Not far, just a bit down this path..." She didn't look at him as she kept walking down the path leading him out to a meadow. "Woah." Link let out in a soft voice as he looked around. Yuki smiled as she watched him take everything in "pretty huh?" He nodded quickly looking around before his eyes settled back on Yuki "it's amazing. How did you find this place?" Yuki raised an eyebrow as she thought about it "I was wondering around one day and I accidentally found it. Since then it's been my favorite place."
Link looked at her and he smiled "that's awesome Yuki." She looked over and giggled "I promise, I'll protect you, and I promise I'll always be your friend." Link blinked before he understood what she was doing "and I promise to protect you and always be your friend." With that the two easily shook hands before link pulled her into a hug. Little did they know that they had been watched by another village boy who was fuming with anger at how close Link was to Yuki. So he ran and went to tell Yuki's parents what he saw. While it wasn't a formal bond, it was still a bond non the less and well he didn't like it. He thought it was meant for him and him alone. 'Don't worry Yuki, I'll make sure we end up as partners' was his only thought as he continued his way to Yuki's home.
