The rest of the month passed uneventful and for that Link was grateful. He had been keeping a close eye on Yuki since they had returned and sighed as she found every reason under the sun to not wear the clothes he had made for her. "Yuki, just wear the damn outfit until we can get you new fighting clothes." She scowled "I don't wanna, I can sew my old one." He groaned before he grabbed her arms "please, I had that outfit specially made for you, and i would really like it if you wore it." Yuki hesitated as he said that but wanted to stand her ground "I don't want to. Besides we're seeing zelda today." He rolled his eyes, "put it on." "I don't want to."
At this point he was begging her "please, just wear it and I promise I'll let you buy whatever you want." She wanted to snap at him saying she had her own money but Link actually looked upset. So she bit her tongue and with a sigh she went and put on the outfit. She had to admit it was a beautiful outfit, but she felt like she didn't deserve it. Especially since one she had been awful to him by running away. And two because of the hideous scar she had. She reluctantly put the outfit on and went downstairs and was greeted by a smiling link "you look beautiful Yuki." She blushed and looked away "we should get going." He chuckled at how she was so easily embarrassed by the compliment. "Alright bossy, and I'll keep my word, I'll buy you whatever you want." "Link you don't have to do that." He walked over and took her hand in his as she traced the scar "I know, but I want to."
She sighed knowing she was going to lose this battle with him "alright." Again he smiled and she couldn't help but return this one. Carefully he led her outside and she stopped when she noticed the horses were already ready for their trip. "When did you get them ready?" "While you were changing." "Ah." She walked over to Eien and climbed up not waiting for links help. The faster they got to the princess and figured out their first designated stop the faster she could get out of the outfit that exposed the scar she was ashamed of. "Impatient much?" Link said as he mounted Epona. "No, I just wanna get there before it's to late." He rolled his eyes, but none the less agreed as he gave Epona the order to go. Yuki followed behind him being careful to not run into anything or anyone.
Once outside of the village did both horses break into a run. It took a few hours before they arrived at hyrule castle town, and by then it was noon and already insanely busy. The two went to take the path that led to the castle but stopped as they saw the others had just arrived, each with their own form of grace. Urbosa looked over hearing the sound of two horses and broke into a wide grin "Yuki!" Yuki smiled as she saw her friend and climbed off Eien, completely forgetting the exposed scar she ran over to the Gerudo woman and embraced her in a hug. Urbosa laughed and quickly returned Yuki's hug "it's been to long. Next time we must meet up before the princess summons us for another trip."
Yuki laughed it had indeed been a while since she saw Urbosa. Urbosa raised an eyebrow as she noticed the young Hylian woman was not in her normal fighting attire. "You look amazing Yuki." Yuki blushed and all of a sudden remembered the scar and attempted to hide it. Yet Urbosa saw it and frowned "who gave you that scar Yuki?" She looked down right angry at seeing such a mark along Yuki's skin. Even Revali who didn't care much for anyone was nodding "yes, tell us the name of the fool and we'll deal with him."
"Get In line." Link replied as he walked up behind Yuki and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder "relax, none of them will judge you." That seemed to have helped Yuki relax a bit but not completely "exactly little lady, the most we're gonna do is beat the hell out of whoever did this to you." Yuki had looked at Daruk with a bit of surprise, she wasn't use to anyone really asking about the scar, let alone caring about who caused it. "Again, I have first dibs so get in line." "First dibs on who?" They all turned as they saw zelda dressed in her traveling attire and they all groaned. No one felt like traveling today. "For the asshole who harmed Yuki." It was Revali who spoke and for once they all saw Zelda's expression darken. "Zelda?" Yuki placed a hand on her shoulder "relax, I haven't seen him in years."
"Can you three please explain so the rest of us aren't so clueless." Urbosa spoke, she didn't like being out of the loop especially if it involved her friend. Yuki sighed and looked at link who nodded "we need to go somewhere else. This story is not to be shared in public." He held Yuki's hand which did not go unnoticed by everyone else and Mipha smiled, she was happy to see them together. "Then I recommend we find a nice quiet place to sit and talk." Link slowly released Yuki's hand and grabbed both horses reigns as he led them all to a nearby lake. Lucky for them it was empty and they all headed to sit down. Once they were all comfy, or as comfy as they could be did they look to Yuki, waiting for her to explain.
Yuki took a deep breathe as she looked straight ahead not really looking at anyone. "Alright, I'm only saying this once. So pay attention." Link gently took her hand as Yuki retold the tale of how she received her scar. Once she had finished several angry expressions were easy to find and a very tired and now highly upset Yuki was now currently leaning against Link who was now holding her in his arms. "He was banned. But I swore if i ever saw him again he was a dead man walking." Urbosa nodded, white hot fury had filled her, Yuki was a kind woman and hearing the story upset her, it also angered her that her friend was so easily drained from telling the story to the point were she was trying to not cry in links arms.
"That voe is scum, no better then Ganon himself. Yuki, you were so brave in protecting link. No one else I know would have been brave enough to take a blow that could have been fatal." Link flinched and several eyebrows raised "she almost....she almost died in my arms that day." It was suddenly dead silent, it was so quiet that you could have heard a pin drop. "Excuse me? She almost died?!" Yuki pulled back a bit and sniffled as she nodded confirming the answer for whoever it was that yelled. Link let her move but kept his arm wrapped tightly around her. "Thank you." She whispered to Link as she finally calmed down completely.
She sat back at her own spot as she waited for everyone else to calm down. "I'm gonna go get food. I'll be back, and this way you can all talk about these springs." Zelda wanted to stop her but sighed as Link simply handed her rupees "get whatever you want, I'll just fill you in on everything when you come back." She nodded as she stood up. It was easy to tell Urbosa was still angry as lightning crackled around her like crazy. Yuki sighed as she quickly left the area heading back towards the town and right towards one of the fruit stands when she heard laughter and saw another female pointing at her own stomach and that's when she realized they were talking about her. She gripped her fists and tried to ignore them but the stares were becoming to much.
"You know, you shouldn't wear something like that." "Yeah, such an ugly scar is showing." Yuki felt herself tremble as the other girl spoke up but remained silent. "A woman shouldn't have scars." Again she trembled but remained silent "especially since we need our looks to attract men." At this Yuki snapped "and how do you know what this scar is from?! How do you know I wasn't dying and a doctor just barely managed to save my life?!" That took the girls by surprise as they backed up a bit "okay, well someone as imperfect as you should cover up. Besides that man you're with? He doesn't love you, he's with you out of pity." That set Yuki over the edge "you're wrong." "Sure whatever you say, just know this, he can do so much better then a trouble making whore." And with that they ran off.
Yuki was trembling this time with rage. However it slowly faded to a darker form of depression, and the doubt, what if they were right, what if he was with her out of pity? She couldn't handle that, it would push her clean off the edge, so she did the only thing she could think of. She cut off her emotions. If she didn't think about them it was easy to ignore, it also kept her from running away again. The stall owner had noticed this and frowned, those girls always had to put someone else down, and this time it looked like it worked "don't listen to them miss, you're a lovely lady and that young man is so lucky to have you."
She looked at him and said nothing, the damage had been done and she wasn't sure how she would fix herself. She paid for some apples before she headed back to the lake. Upon arriving it seemed like everyone had calmed down and they were laughing and joking. Even link looked more at ease. She stood in front of a tree watching them but not joining, her head was full of insecurities, and she suddenly felt alone, she flinched when zelda placed her hand on links back and she dropped her fruit which caused Urbosa to look over. She smiled upon seeing Yuki had returned. "Yuki! Come sit, we just finished agreeing upon going to the spring of courage first." Yuki just stood there however. "Yuki?"
She knelt down and gathered her apples before walking over and gave link back all his rupee's which surprised him. "I used my own." Her voice was empty, detached from any form of emotion. "The Hell Yuki? I told you to use my money." "It's fine." She then went to go sit down. But instead of going back next to Link she sat right down next to Urbosa who was the farthest from Link. Everyone blinked at the sudden seat change. "Ummm Yuki weren't you next to Link?" "Does it matter?" "Well no....but." "But nothing Mipha. I felt like sitting with Urbosa." Mipha frowned and Link had to bite back a growl. She was pushing him away again, he could tell. Especially now that he recognized the way she spoke in a detached manner.
"Erm Anyway...Link said you two were looking for a place called Anilya. Can you explain that? And what that place even is?" Yuki looked at zelda and even zelda felt a chill run down her spine. She looked back at Yuki who had a blank empty look in her eyes, like she had given up. But what did she give up on? "I can explain. However its a long story however so get comfy." Everyone nodded and waited for her to start speaking. And for the 3rd time in her life she retold the tale of what she found in the temple. She told them the story of Anilya, how they were looking, how she got injured, and she continued until she had nothing left to tell them. Eventually she went completely silent.
It was Urbosa who spoke first as the silence became to much "zelda perhaps we should look for this place as well. It sounds like the story is missing something vital." Zelda nodded in agreement "we'll look for it." She smiled at Yuki only to receive a cold blank stare in return. "Alright, so in a few days time we'll head out for the spring of courage, I have some stuff to finish and prepare so I will summon for all of you when the time comes." "Alright, we'll hang around here but Yuki and Link might head home." "We are." And with that he stood up and walked over to Yuki. He reached for her hand intending to help her stand only to be pushed away from her "what the?"
Yuki stood on her own and dusted herself off as she headed to Eien. She didn't even bother saying goodbye. She just climbed up and took off. "Is she okay?" "I don't know but I'm going to find out." He wasn't happy, he didn't work for her trust and her heart this long for her to go back to her old ways. Something happened and he was determined to find out what caused the sudden change. He quickly mounted Epona and chased after her. He cursed his luck as he saw she was already running out of the gates. He carefully maneuvered his way around people and stalls and soon ran right out of the gates. He knew Epona was tired but he couldn't let Yuki get to far.
He wasn't about to let her shut him out, and he damn sure wasn't going to let her run away again. Not when they were making progress with their relationship. He pushed Epona a bit more promising the poor girl an extra helping of carrots. As he got closer he reached out and grabbed Eiens reigns forcing him to suddenly stop and buck. Yuki's eyes widened and she held on for dear life as she attempted to sooth Eien. Once that was done did she turn and glare at link who was glaring in return "what the fuck happened Yuki?" "Leave me alone, you could have hurt me!" Link flinched "I'm sorry about that but I couldn't afford for you to run away again."
Yuki simply crossed her arms "let go of my horse link." "Not until you tell me what happened when you left to get food." Yuki stiffened, she didn't wanna talk about it. "You realize you can't keep this to yourself Yuki. Because whatever it is, it's hurting both you and myself." She rolled her eyes "just admit it Link. You're with me out of pity right?" Link blinked and waited for her to say just kidding, until he realized she wasn't. "What the absolute hell Yuki? I would never pity you, and I would never date you because I felt bad for you." She rolled her eyes "who the fuck put that shit into your head." "Forget it." "Oh no, it doesn't work like that. You're going to tell me. And then I'm going to spend all night, proving that I am serious about you. That I love you. I don't pity you, you're absolutely amazing and I'm going to make you realize that." Yuki gulped at the serious look in his eyes and wondered what she just got herself into with that statement she made.
*time skip. Same day just later*
Once the two were home and the horses were settled down for the night did Link head back inside and saw Yuki sitting on the sofa. He was relieved she didn't go hide upstairs, not that it would have done her any good in the first place. He walked over to where she was sitting and sat next to her. He allowed her to organize her thoughts before he turned her to face him. "Now, start talking because I have no idea where that stupid idea came from." Yuki frowned and reluctantly told him what happened at the market and he growled which made her flinch. Quickly, without giving her much time or warning he caught her chin with his fingers and he made her look at him.
"You listen to me right now." He waited till she gave him her full attention and once he had it did he speak "I love you, I love the scars, I love your personality, I love everything about you. All the way down to your god damn stubborn side." Yuki blushed and tried looking away as tears formed in her eyes. She didn't know why she let those words get to her. "Shhh." Link saw the tears forming and it quickly deflated most of his temper. Not that he was angry at her anymore, no he was angry at those who made her feel the way she did. "Can you hold still for me Yuki?" She hesitated before nodding yes. He slowly pushed her backwards as he leaned down to where her scar was. Yuki was confused but chose to not yet say anything. Her eyes widened as she felt his lips against her skin and she had to stop herself from
Pushing him away.
He carefully placed kisses along the scar on her stomach before moving up and kissing the newest one on her shoulder before he kissed the top half of the very first scar she had ever gotten. "You, are absolutely beautiful. And I want no one else but you." She slowly nodded before she tackled him and hid her face against his chest and cried. Letting out all of the pain she had bottled up, the loneliness and the anger. He simply rubbed her back as he whispered words of encouragement into her ear. This was how he would prove he loved her, he would compliment her, he would tell her what he loved most about her, and he hoped, he truly hoped it helped her become more confident in herself, because to him she was simply amazing and beyond beautiful.
Once she finished crying did she peek up at him and sniffle "I'm sorry." "It's alright." He pulled her up a bit so she was now on his lap. He watched her blush and look away before he suddenly grinned "what?" He didn't say anything he just leaned forward and captured her lips in a hungry kiss "I love you. And I'll say it as many times as needed." Yuki looked at him confused before she realized this was how he proved it. How he showed her how much she meant to him. She gave him a soft smile which had him confused "I love you Link." His eyes widened it was the second time she had said those words. He went to speak to say it back but was stopped as she suddenly kissed him. He didn't wait, didn't think he just picked her up wrapping her legs around his hips as he quickly and carefully carried her upstairs only parting for air and to leave marks all along her neck. He reclaimed her mouth once they were in his room only to stop and lay her on the bed before he crawled in next to her and pulled her back into his arms for another kiss.
She pulled back and smiled at him before he rubbed his nose against hers. "I promise Yuki, I won't ever hurt you." "I believe you." He smiled as he got up and handed her a new shirt "wear this one, the other one needs to be cleaned." He turned his back to her as she changed and removed his clothes not caring if she watched. He smirked when he turned back around and saw the blush on her face. "You're so adorable." "Shut up." "Nope." And with that he gave her one last kiss before he laid down pulling her with him. "Sleep love." Yuki blushed at the newest name and snuggled against him, the blue shirt rode up but she was honestly to tired to care. It didn't take long for either one to fall asleep, each wrapped in one another's embrace.
