The Missing Goddess

Going to Atinila

  The rest of the month with link passed uneventful and soon it was time for both kids to go back to Yuki's home town of Atinila. "You two ready?" "Yes" they both replied as Kaito loaded links and Yuki's bags onto the carriage. He was also loading Epona into a cart that was being pulled by a donkey. "Okay you two, into the back it's time to get a move on if we wanna get there before nightfall." The kids nodded and quickly got inside of the carriage and sat down. Kaito climbed onto Zero (his horse if you didn't realize this) link looked over at Yuki and smiled "happy to be going home?" "Kinda, i liked staying here." He raises an eyebrow "here I was allowed to relax. Sure we trained but i was allowed to be myself. I didn't have to always be serious." Link frowned he didn't like hearing that. "You should always be yourself Yuki." She gave him a soft smile as she looked over at Epona who seemed to be a bit nervous. "She's scared." Link raised an eyebrow at this. "You can tell?" "Yeah, see how she's fidgeting?" Link nodded "she's scared, she's leaving a place she knew for somewhere else." Link suddenly understood and nodded "I understand." Yuki looked back at him before she started humming a lullaby to help Epona settle down. It didn't take long before the horse finally relaxed and link himself started dozing off. Before anyone knew it he was sound asleep with his head on Yuki's lap.
    She stopped humming for a moment to giggle before she absentmindedly started playing with his hair. She went back to humming the song while Kaito listened "did he fall asleep Yuki?" "Yes sir." Kaito groaned "Yuki we talked about this." She blinked before she frowned "I'm sorry Kaito." "It's alright. Just relax. That was a pretty song, what's it called?" "I just made it up, it's Epona's lullaby." "That's a good name." Yuki nodded and she lapsed into silence once again.
    A few hours later Kaito stopped and looked back to check on everyone only to see link curled up around Yuki who was now also sound asleep. "Those two are something else alright." He smiled, he wondered if later in life they would end up together. He knew they would be an adorable couple but it was also to soon to even be thinking that. They were kids for God's sake. He chuckled and started moving again, it was late in the afternoon by the time they arrived in Atinila village. And as soon as he stopped at the gates did he see Hiro and Alexa with baby Saya. He sighed as he got down and carefully woke both kids "come on kids rise and shine. We're here" Yuki woke up first and tried moving but link only tightened his hold making her groan "Link wake up before I push you off." He groaned as he lazily opened his eyes "I'm up, I'm up." He said as he slowly let go of Yuki and helped her sit up before they both carefully got down from the carriage. Link was still sleepy but he held onto Yuki's hand not even bothering to let go anymore.
    Kaito took everything into the house and came back before hugging the kids extra tight "I'll see you both soon okay?" "Yeah, in a month dad" Yuki nodded in agreement as Hiro put Epona with the other horses. Her mom walked over and smiled "Yuki, are you happy to be home?" "Yes mom" she looked up and smiled a bit before she stifled a yawn. Her mother chuckled as she held onto Saya. Reaching down with one hand she ruffled the kids hair. "Ugh mom" Yuki pouted which made her mom laugh again "you're so cute." Kaito walked over as Hiro came back and spoke to him in a hushed whisper. He was asking questions and telling him about the nightmares and gai. Hiro sighed and nodded everything was true. Gai was an awful child yet his father saw him as a saint.
    Kaito clenched his teeth before speaking again but this time louder "can she stay with us again?" This shocked everyone as they didn't see it coming "again?" "Yes, it's healthy for her." Her mom frowned but looked at her daughter. She took in how much she had changed in such a short time. Her daughter laughed more, had more confidence and seemed more at ease with life. "I don't see why not. As long as we can keep link again as well" the kids grinned knowing it would be a long time before they ever separated. "You have a deal Alexa." She smiled and the kids cheered as they ran inside to set up links now permanent room.
   Once they finished did they run back outside to say bye to links dad. "I'll see you two in a month!" He yelled as he climbed on his horse and was soon gone.  "Wanna go explore link?" She looked at him with a hopeful smile that he quickly returned and nodded running after her.
*time skip*
Two weeks later Yuki and Link were currently being tested by her father who was impressed with how much Yuki has grown, and how quickly Link was learning, then again his father was a knight and he did learn from his daughter as well. Or perhaps the boy was just a prodigy. Meanwhile the kids were discussing a plan on how to take him out. Link nodded as he agreed with Yuki being the decoy, her father most likely assumed she would take the lead attack. But boy was he he in for a rude awakening. "Now!" Yuki yelled as she ran forward raising her blade as if she was gonna attack but quickly moved side ways as Link brought down his sword having ran behind her. This took Hiro off guard and gave him ample time to sweep his legs out from under him causing him to fall backwards and not have just one but two swords at his throat "holy...Kaito didn't joke when he said you two were deadly."
   The two looked at each other and grinned, but Hiro tried to knock down Yuki with his sword only to have Link place his foot on his arm "don't touch her." Hiro blinked and nodded before link backed up and took Yuki with him. "Alright, you two are done for the day." Link nodded and grabbed Yuki's hand. Sneak attacks were Yuki's favorite, but he didn't like when someone tried to harm her. "Yuki, think fast." Was all Hiro said when Yuki's hand reached out and caught something easily. "Next time you throw a dagger dear father, you might wanna make sure it's sharp." She grinned as she threw it back the dagger easily hitting its mark on the dirt and Hiro laughed. "Oh i know."  He retrieved the dagger and soon went inside.
    "How did they do?" Alexa asked as she looked up from the blanket she was making. "Kaito was right. They're deadly together." Alexa grinned "wait till they're old enough to date." She teased and Hiro glared "she's my baby, she's not dating." "Oh they'll end up together. Weather you like it or not." "They're gonna be partners." "Then it's time we break that rule. We let them marry. Because it's no longer fair, this is no longer the era in which we grew up." Hiro sighed as his wife spoke nothing but the truth "maybe you're right. But I'll only lift it if I see how much he loves her. Which we won't know till they're older." Alexa nodded with a smile, it wouldn't be long before it was obvious. The way Link was already protective spoke volumes of its own.
     Link was walking around with Yuki as she showed him all her favorite spots and even introduced him to Anya her best friend from her home town. Anya nodded as she introduced herself to link then looked at Yuki. She was studying her, seeing how she changed. And smiled. She saw a Yuki she never saw before, a young girl finally smiling, and beaming with confidence as she walked. "You two are good friends." The two blushed as they laughed "thanks Anya." "You're welcome. Oh Yuki?" "Yeah?" "Watch out for Gai. He heard links here and he's not happy." Yuki scowled as Link gripped her hand "he won't touch her." "I know he won't. She has you after all." Link nodded as he said goodbye to Anya. Yuki also said a goodbye as Link quickly led her away from the area. They had finally decided to go to the meadow and relax before they had to head home for the night.
    Little did either of them know that they had been followed by Gai. He was glaring something nasty at Link who had his arm around HIS Yuki. Yuki belonged to him. And he would have her. Even if it meant Link had to die. He carefully came out of his hiding spot and walked towards them. "Get away from her." Link looked over and glared before taking a defensive stance in front of Yuki. "Get lost Gai." Yuki stood up as well keeping silent as she watched. Gai has a crazed look in his eyes "she's mine." "No she isn't!" Gai glared "you're an outsider! You know nothing!" "Well I know she can't stand you. I know everything you've done to her! If you cared you wouldn't have harmed her! Bullied her! Or isolated her!" Yuki watched with wide eyes as she heard how angry Link sounded. "She belongs to me. So Link." He spat "I guess you'll have to die. Can't have you getting in the way anymore." And with that he ran forward sword out stretched ready to swing the killing blow. There was no time to react and no way to counter since neither had their weapons on them. So Yuki did the only thing that came to mind. She ran in front of Link. Gia's eyes widened in horror and so did links. The last thing Yuki remembered was a lot of pain, screaming and crying. Someone begging her to stay awake. She tried to answer, she really did but her lips felt so heavy, and she felt so weak. The last thing she saw was links tearful blue eyes before everything went dark.
