Link had carried Yuki down to the kitchen where he carefully set her down on a counter watching her giggle. It was nice being able to see her act so carefree. He had also missed seeing her in the morning. "So eggs for breakfast?" She laughs "not much else we can cook at the moment." He grins "I know. I'll go cook okay?" She went to get down when he stopped her "let me cook, and you tell me about this town called Anilya." She stiffened as he mentioned the name and he raised an eyebrow as he got out what he would need to cook their eggs. "Okay, why do you always stiffen when that town is mentioned?"
Yuki sighed and hopped off the counter to help him take the food outside much to his dislike "Yuki I said relax." "I am, but you can't carry this alone" He sigh as she was right, besides having her help was nice. Once outside did she help him set everything down. She went and sat on the tree stump and watched him as she pondered over his question "i wonder how the great deku tree knew of that town." She was speaking to herself as Link watched her. "What i wanna know is, how do you know about it? He is old as time itself. He was bound to learn of it."
She sighed link had a point after all. "It wasn't a sign you saw was it Yuki." It was more of a statement then a question at this point.
"You're correct. There is no sign. That village, town whatever it is, it's over 10,000 years old Link." His blue eyes widened as he almost dropped the eggs "Come again?!" She sighed "in my home town, there is a place that's hidden from everyone, only my people knew of it. It's called the ruins of Atinila." Link nodded as he motioned for her to continue "well while i traveled, before I ended up in the desert." She gave a brief smile as it was a dark time yet also a time she had met Urbosa. Link watched her expressions not daring to speak. "During my travels I found myself going back there, it was hell each time i went. Memories came back, both good and bad. And if it was late enough....it was like you could hear the screams." He shuddered, that sounded like pure hell on hyrule.
"I decided to travel to the ruins, I had never seen them before as my father forbade anyone from entering there." "Why did he do that?" Yuki looked at him but again it was like she was looking through him, like she was lost in a memory. "Because it wasn't safe. Or so he claimed, he was right though, and I....I was ill prepared to enter there." She shuddered this time as she recalled her narrow escape from a few deadly traps "the place was full of traps, and monsters." Link frowned he didn't like the idea of her being alone in such a situation. "What happened?" She sighed before continuing "it took a few days to figure out the safest path and even then, it wasn't fully safe. I got hurt a few times, nothing major, scrapes and bruises." She was downplaying it she didn't wanna cause him worry. "Eventually, I came upon the entrance to what appeared to have once been a beautiful temple, part of it was submerged in water. So you can imagine how that was annoying."
He continued cooking as she continued the tale. "Once I entered it I looked around. It was breathtaking, even in its ruined state, the stone monument that stood in there was still in one piece, just barely readable though. It took a while to understand it was telling a story. A story of long ago." He looked up this time as the food was finally finished "what did it say?" She had this far away look in her eyes as she recalled the story "it spoke of a town, that was once the heart of time." His eyes widened as she continued "10,000 years ago, in a village called Anilya a woman was born, she was beyond beautiful, her beauty rivaled even that of the goddess Hylia. Her name was Akayla. And she was of hylian blood. She was a gentle woman, with long black hair, Snow White skin, and icy blue eyes. She loved purely and gave freely, any who sought her weather for help or even words of advice were never turned away. She didn't have a violent bone in her body."
She was silent for a moment "not to long after, a time of great darkness was coming, a war that could not be avoided. So she prayed everyday to the goddess's. She wanted to protect her people. Well one fateful day the darkness had made its way towards them, it was in the form of a man. He called himself Calamity Ganon." She took a deep breathe completely ignoring her food. Even Link wasn't touching his, the story was captivating and he wanted, no needed to hear it. "He offered them a place at his side, saying how he was the new ruler." Several were tempted to join him, yet no one moved but one family. No one knows what happened to them however. Ganon realized that no one else was going to and he resorted to using threats. Akayla had enough, and she went to face him. Her people needed her and nothing would stop her from protecting them."
She was silent for a moment almost as if she was lost to a different time, then again she probably was. "They argued back and forth as she tried to make him realize the error of his ways. Yet she failed and in less then a moment monsters unlike any they had ever faced were summoned as if they were made of air. Ganon laughed as he watched the destruction , Hylia was powerless at this point, for the hero of time was not yet old enough to be of help. As all hope seemed lost a great power awoke. In a moment of true desperation did it come to life. The gods had heard the prays. Akayla in order to save her people froze the very fabrics of time. Ganon had escaped and the only ones who were free to move in Anilya was herself and Hylia. Both women were startled. From that day forth Akayla was known as the goddess of time. She played her role in the battle against darkness and paid the ultimate price" Link Bit his lip wondering what it was. "She used all her time, her own life energy if you want to call it that. She died in the final battle, and Hylia held her the entire time."
She looked at link now seeming as if she was finally back with him. "Unfortunately that's were the story stopped. It's assumed that Anilya's time is still frozen as it was never stated other wise." Link was in complete shock. He didn't know how to process the story and he stared. Yuki shifted feeling nervous. "It's stated in legend that she has descendants. Reincarnates. Yet all of them met the same brutal end. They died. No one knows why either. I'm hoping if Anilya does still stand, and it's not just a myth I can learn more of the story. And see what became the new heart of time." "Probably the temple of time." Her eyes widened, of course, it was created to honor the long dead goddess, so it only made sense that it would become the heart of it all. "So if that place still stands...." "there are people there still, all whom have been frozen for over 10,000 years."
Link frowned, he couldn't imagine being frozen for that long. It wasn't like a sleep that you could wake from, they were frozen, and if they were ever able to wake up, would they be able to handle that it was 10,000 years later? Yuki ate her food before she walked over and rubbed his back "if they are there...i want to help them. I want to give them a chance to live out their lives." Link nodded and smiled, Yuki had such a gentle heart "makes me wonder if you're actually the goddess in disguise." He was half teasing half serious. "No way, she had amazing powers, I wouldn't even hold a candle to that." He frowned "stop downplaying it. She didn't even have them until a moment of true despair."
Yuki nodded he had a point. "Anyway, finish your food I'm gonna start washing the dishes." He groaned, the damn woman didn't know how to relax. He finished his food as he watched her clean up the dishes and headed to put them in the sink so she could wash them. He brought his plate inside and she smiled as she motioned for him to put it in the sink. He reluctantly did so before she chased him out of the kitchen. He groaned again as he went out to tend to the horses. Yuki came out not long after a smile upon her face "hey Link?" "What's up?" She was looking at the sky "do you think my dad would know anything?" "I don't know, next time we head there we'll ask him okay?" "Alright. Thank you." He chuckled as she thanked him "you're impossible." "Oh?" She went to say some more but he quickly kissed her. "Now come on, you owe me a decent sword fight." And with that the two went inside to get dressed for the day. They never did get to the sword fight, or any training for that matter, instead they spent the day laying on the sofa talking and catching up. To link it was the perfect day. He got to see another side of her, and she got to see one of him. And much like the days before, she fell asleep in his embrace and for once she felt completely at peace.
