It had been a few weeks since they had set out on their trip for the spring of courage. Link was looking over at Yuki who was standing next to Urbosa and Revali. The three were in an adamant conversation about the story of Anilya and who could possibly be the goddess. Link didn't mind that she was talking to Urbosa, what shocked him was how close Revali was to her as well. He scowled and Daruk noticed before chuckling "calm down Link, Revali won't touch her and if he tries I'm pretty sure she'll give him some type of hell." That made Link chuckle as he remembered the first argument.
    *flash back*
They had just started out on their journey and Revali was sitting there talking about how he's so amazing at archery and how no one could best him in accuracy. Yuki felt her eye twitch as he kept going and going. Link rolled his eyes and gently rubbed Yuki's back in an attempt to calm her. It only took a few moments for her temper to settle and she smiled at link who simply nodded. He was a bit more serious now that they were all on the road. Even Yuki, who had worn her new fighting outfit. It was a gift from Urbosa after the woman had found out Yuki's original outfit was ruined. Yuki protested saying how she couldn't accept it but Urbosa insisted especially since they didn't have time for her to repair her other one.
Everyone had been silent for the most part. Minus Revali who kept talking about his bow and his new ability that he created. Yuki shot him a warning glare, she didn't real like kicking the fuck out of someone so early in the Morning. While it was only 10 am it still felt to early for her. They had left the castle around 5 so they could get a head start. Zelda had felt bad for making them all wake so early but everyone assured her it was fine. They needed to get to the spring. The faster zelda could access her power the faster they could find the missing goddess of time and stop Ganon from rising to power. Revali noticed the glare and simply returned it before he taunted her. "Oh am I upsetting you Yuki? Feeling like you are inferior to my abilities?"
This caused Yuki to finally snap "that's it!" She had stopped walking, which in turn made everyone else stop as they turned to watch the two. Link went to interview as he saw Yuki's shoulders tremble with pure rage and annoyance. Yet it was Urbosa who stopped him. "Let her handle this link. She's a big girl." Link sighed as he stood still and watched like everyone else. Urbosa was right, Yuki was a big girl and could defiantly handle herself. He chuckled to himself and Urbosa raised an eyebrow "what's so funny?" "He's actually fucked, she's down right pissed." Urbosa laughed "he's gonna get his ass handed to him isn't he?" "Yep."
Revali crossed arms as he watched Yuki, it was easy to tell she was now angry. "Is there a problem Yuki?" "Yes!" He raised an eyebrow but wisely said nothing. "You, you're so fucking annoying. You're talking like a know it all and how you're so amazing it's actually pissing me off." Revali glared "well excuse me, I happen to enjoy boasting about my skills." Yuki took a deep breath before she decided to throw morals aside and beat the bird senseless. When all of a sudden an idea came to her and she smirked under her mask. "Okay, if you're so great you won't mind a little bet would you bird brains." Revali glared at the insult "what kind of bet." However her challenge is what captivated him "shoot an arrow at a tree and if I break your arrow, you'll have to apologize and shut up for the rest of this god forsaken trip about how great you are."
"Bring it little girl. But if you miss then you have to deal with my bragging and admit how great and amazing I am." Yuki smirked, the damn Bird was now officially fucked, she was deadly in archery, mind you she excelled in all weapons and hand to hand but archery she was literally on par with Revali. Yet he had no idea. "You're on." Revali smirked and drew his bow aiming at a tree about 10 meters away from them. He steadied his aim and Yuki had to admit he had a great stance. Then before anyone could blink he released the arrow and if flew Straight and true and hit the mark "let's see you top that little girl." Yuki glared "I won't miss bird brains."
Link smirked as Yuki took her stance and aimed for the arrow. Even Urbosa was smirking she knew Yuki had this. Mipha, Daruk and Zelda however looked worried and inwardly groaned. They couldn't stand Revali and his arrogance. (Even if it is deserved it was still annoying) they all turned to look at Yuki and held their breath. They were praying she hit her mark. Revali looked at Yuki and watched her carefully, the girl had a remarkable stance and for a second he was worried he bit off more then he could chew. Not that he would admit that. He could only hope she didn't hit the arrow. However Destiny was not on his side as she released the arrow. The arrow soared across the land and hit its mark.
Revali's eyes widened as her own arrow had split his clean in half. "How?" "Simple, I excelled in archery." She smirked at him "now you gotta keep your end of the deal bird brain." He sighed "it's only right. However I will admit, you have excellent form. I've never seen a Hylian, let alone a woman have such a great shot." Yuki blinked before shrugging "I was trained at a young age. And as good as you are you shouldn't boast. Sometimes it's best to keep
Things like that to yourself." And with that she started walking again.
     *end of flashback*
Link looked over once again only to see Yuki smiling at him. He returned her smile before turning his attention back to the princess who was talking to Mipha about how she could possibly access her powers. Urbosa noticed this and nudged Yuki who blinked "so, what's going on with the two of you?" Yuki blinked before she blushed "erm..." "oh? Now even I wish to know. Do share this information Yuki." She sighed as she looked to the sky, it was now late afternoon and if she recalled right no one really ate that morning. "Yuki." She sighed again "we're together. In a sense, we're trying to test the waters. I can admit now that I do love him. But I'm not sure what we actually are."
"I see." Urbosa nodded and Revali was a bit shocked "I forget you two knew each other for so long it was bound to happen." "Not really." "Huh?" Two voices asked. She didn't know that now everyone was listening in. "I grew up thinking I would never be allowed to be with him as more then just my partner." "Why?" "Because in my home...well what was my home, it was forbidden to marry your partner. It was seen as a weakness and an inability to do your job." Several member of the ragtag group looked angry at that. "Love is meant to be free." "I know that Urbosa." "Then why?" She sighed "during a time of war, a battle wiped out many people, homes and towns. They blamed people of my village, and others. Saying how their partners were only protecting each other. Which is what partners are meant to do. And that's not what originally happened."
Everyone was silent as they listened, even link who hadn't heard this story. "The power they fought against was Ganon, this had to have happened at least five thousand years ago." Link blinked, this girl clearly knew her history, either that or she did some amazing research. "No one really knew the entire story, no one wanted to listen either, so the ruler at the time had put a ban on it. If you were found with your partner in an romantic way you were heavily punished. Usually it was in the form of exile." "That's horrible." "It is. However now that rule no longer exists." "Oh?" "Oh my birthday, we went to visit my family. Link and I had apparently walked under mistletoe and we had to kiss." She faintly smiles at the memory.
"Well my father must have noticed because he finally abolished the rule and let everyone else know they were now free to marry who they pleased." "I get it, you grew up thinking that link and you wouldn't have a chance unless you wanted to literally be disowned." "That is correct, and honestly, even if he hadn't removed such a stupid rule, I would have eventually told Link how I felt." Links eyes widened, so they would have eventually gotten together anyway. That made him smile but he kept it to himself. "So why take so long? Why were you in denial?" It was Zelda who spoke and that's when Yuki realized everyone was listening to the story. "Really? You were all listening?" "Yep." She laughed "nosey brats."
They all laughed "we are now explain." "Well i was hoping that I could hide how I felt and he would move on. I felt i was to emotionally damaged for him. Even if it would have broke my heart he would be happy." Link looked over at her with a scowl "I would have never given up on you. I would have fought for you, and tried my hardest to prove I love you." She looked at him with a sad smile "I know that now." He walked over and tilted her chin up before looking into her grey eyes. Everyone looked at them curious as to what was going to happen when he leaned forward and gave her a very chaste kiss.
She returned the kiss before she pulled back and he laced their fingers together "let's keep going." He looked at everyone and they quickly looked away embarrassed at having been caught watching them. It didn't take long before the group started walking again. They still had at least another day before they arrived at the spring of courage. It was late into the night when they all finally agreed to stop for the night and set up camp.
Yuki waited for Link to start the fire while she skewered the fish onto make shift skewers. Once the fire was lit did she set the fish around it occasionally turning them so they wouldn't burn on one side and cook evenly. She even got some mushrooms and Hylian rice and put it into the pot they bought with them as she quickly made a side dish. Once everything was done did she serve everyone their food and sat down next to Link so she could also eat. It was agreed that link and Yuki would take watch first and then switch with Revali. Half way through the night Yuki woke Revali and he groaned but knew it was his turn.
Link laid against a tree and pulled Yuki Into his side much to her embarrassment and protest. "Shush, it's getting cold." She sighed and snuggled against him as he had a point. Especially since he Helped keep her nightmares at bay. In little to no time she was asleep in his arms. Link was about to speak when Revali spoke "you know, for someone who has a rough life, a bad past, she's probably the most loving woman I have ever met. You're lucky to have her link." He thought for a moment before he spoke "I am. And for as bad as her past was, she had plenty of good times. She's friendly and loyal and honestly an amazing person." Revali nodded. He truly admired Yuki. She overcame so much and yet she still loved the way she did.
Once morning came everyone was awake. The only one not awake was Yuki "we need to wake her." Link rolled his eyes as he went to pick her up to put her on his back "what are you doing? Wake her up and let her walk." "Right, because I totally wanna die." "Huh?" "Actually, you can wake her Revali." That confused everyone. "Afraid to wake her?" "Nah, you'll just see why i refuse and let her wake on her own." And with that he walked away and Revali walked over and grabbed her shoulder intending to wake her. He didn't even get a chance to speak before her eyes opened and he was on the ground with this tiny petite woman hovering over him and a sword at his throat.
Link broke out laughing "and that my friend is why I refuse to wake her." Yuki blinked as she recognized Revali and groaned before she moved away from him putting away  the sword she had drawn in a second flat. "Well I see now why he doesn't wake you." "He found out the hard way when we were Kids." "What happened?" Yuki yawned as she spoke  "He can tell you." Link nodded and motioned for her to get on his back to which she easily complied. She was still awake but not functioning enough to really talk. Link started walking while everyone ate an apple or some other fruit since they decided it would be smart to start early so they could finally reach the spring. "Well, are you gonna tell us?"
Link nodded as he swallowed his food and told the story from his 8th birthday. The others chuckled as he finished. "Guess you learned huh." "Oh yeah, never again am i waking her." Yuki who was now awake enough to walk motioned to Link to let her down and he nodded and gently placed her on the ground. Urbosa walked over and handed her an apple "eat, you're to skinny." Yuki rolled her eyes and started eating her apple.
It was around noon when they finally made it to the spring. It was decided Link would accompany zelda to the spring itself while the rest waited at the entrance. Once they were gone everyone was silent. "So, Yuki, the boy, what ever happened to him?" Yuki looked at Daruk and sighed "he was exiled, no ones see him or his family." "Ah." "Any ideas on this missing goddess?" "Nope." Urbosa frowned before speaking "I think it might be Yuki." Everyone looked at Urbosa waiting for an explanation. "She not only fits the description of the goddess, minus her eyes which might change if it's indeed her. But i feel as if Yuki has untapped powers." "That actually sounds possible." Yuki said nothing as they discussed that among themselves.
It didn't take much longer for Zelda and Link to return, the princess looked defeated and Link just sighed "nothing happened." He answered the unspoken question. Everyone else nodded "well no rush. It'll show when it's ready." "Exactly." "Besides we think we know who the goddess of time is." This made zelda smile "who?!" "Yuki" Several voices chimed in at once. Link nodded having had the same thought. Zelda looked at Yuki studying her before agreeing easily. "How would we known that though?" "Simple we take her to the temple of time. And hopefully that will reveal if it's her or not."
Everyone simply agreed, Yuki chose to stay silent however. "It's decided, our next destination, is the temple of time" And with that they were off once again.
