Later that night Yuki woke up feeling as if something was wrong. And how right she was. Carefully pulling herself free of Link's vice like grip did she head over to the door opening it. Her eyes widening as she gasped. The mood was dyed red. The color of blood. Link had woken up as he felt Yuki move away and groaned. He didn't like when she moved away. He sat up and froze as the red moonlight shown into the house. "That is the blood moon. It's caused by ganon, and any monster you have previously defeated is able to be reborn in that same location. Often times much stronger then when you first defeated it." Yuki looked at link as he nodded confirming he had also heard zelda's voice.
He walked over to her and wrapped and arm around her waist suddenly glad that they had decided to venture back home Instead of trying to travel. "If that wasn't the creepiest thing I've ever seen." Yuki nodded in agreement as the moon finally turned silver once again. "That was creepy. Even creepier then the guardians" Link shuddered at that. How on hyrule something was creepier then the guardians was actually alarming. "And this apparently brings back any monster we've ever killed." Yuki sighed "I assume it won't stop until ganon is defeated." He nodded having a feeling she was right. "Let's go back to bed." She looked at him before nodding this time heading towards the stairs. Link followed after her and watched as she headed towards her room only to grab her hand and pull her in the direction of his. "What are you doing?" "Going to bed." "And you stopped me from going to mine why?"
He felt her try to pull away and he stopped before turning to face her. "Stop." "Link, let me go to my room." He groaned and knelt down a bit before picking her up by her legs causing her to fall over his shoulder "Link?!" He placed a hand on her lower back as she hit his back "stop hitting me." "Put me down!" "No." "Yes!" "No, I want to cuddle." She groaned "then cuddle your damn pillow." "It's not warm like you are." She groaned again "let me down god damn it link." "You want down?" "Yes!" "Alright." And with that he dropped her into his bed her eyes widening as she bounced a moment or two "this isn't my bed." "I'm aware." He crawled in next to her and wrapped an arm around her in another vice like grip. "But I said I'm not letting you go."
She growled as she tried pulling free only for link to tighten his hold and pull her against his chest. "God damn it Link." He sighed and let go before turning away from her. Once he let her go did she sit up. She looked at him and went to get out of his bed to head to her own room. She didn't notice the frown on his face, or the lonely look that was in his eyes. He watched as she headed towards the door and he sighed grabbed a pillow and holding it. He didn't get why she wouldn't just cuddle. She heard the sigh and looked back now seeing that he was upset. She sighed and headed back over to him "are you really that upset?" He didn't answer her instead he just turned so his back was to her.
For some reason that really hurt her and she hugged herself as she finally left his room. She didn't know why that simple action hurt her, she didn't know why it broke her heart either. She just crawled into her bed and tried to fall asleep. Yet she was failing, when she finally started falling asleep however did she hear her door open. She looked over and saw that Link had walked in "I'm sorry." She just blinked "i won't make you cuddle with me again. I just felt safe you know? Like everything was gonna be okay." She sighed as she slowly sat up but it was to late he had left her room and went back to his. She followed after him but soon heard the sound of the door being locked and she just froze. He had locked her out. Feeling her heart break into tiny pieces did she bit her lip and turn as she started heading back to her own room.
She wasn't aware that she was crying till a tear fell onto her hand "huh why am I crying?" She knew why, and the reason hurt to even think about. Her heart was in pieces and she covered her face as silent sobs racked her entire body. She hurt Link, so it was only fair if he caused her the same pain. She just wasn't expecting it. When morning came she was down right exhausted. She hadn't slept at all that night. No, instead she spent the night crying. She cried till she couldn't anymore. Deciding to change into what Zelda had made for her did she finally head downstairs. She wasn't expecting however to see Link going through their bags to see what was needed so she turned away. "Yuki?" She stopped walking but didn't turn to look at him. "What is it Link?" He frowned, she sounded so tired and her voice was raspy, almost like she had been crying all night, but he didn't hear her.
"Look at me please?" She stiffened but refused to turn to face him. "Yuki please." She sighed at his gentle tone and slowly turned to face him but instead of looking at him she just looked down. She didn't expect him to lift her face up to so she could look into his own eyes. Her grey eyes were completely dull, her eyes were puffy, and she had dark circles under them. Yet she stiffened even more when he touched her. "You were crying..." she didn't say anything, it was obvious, anyone who looked at her could tell she had been. "Yuki why didn't you just come knock on the door I would have let you in." She finally pulled away and looked out the window. "We should restock our supplies." She was trying to avoid talking to him. He growled and made her face him again. She wasn't going to avoid this. "Give me an answer Yuki." She frowned as she looked at him "I don't owe you an answer." He reached down with his other hand and grabbed her wrist before he started pulling her over to the sofa. Once there he made her sit but as she tried to scramble away did he lean over her.
Anyone else who looked at this probably would have seen it as two lovers about to kiss, but that wasn't the case with these two. He was trying to keep her from running away from him. "Give me an answer." She huffed. "Move." "No." She glared and he returned it. "Yuki." The way he said her name was almost like a growl and for some reason she shivered. "I hurt you, so what right did i have to go to you for comfort? Besides, you locked the door." He blinked as she finally gave him an answer. "If I had known you were crying I would have let you in. Doesn't matter if you hurt me. I wouldn't have let you cry alone. Yes I was hurt, I simply wanted to cuddle. I don't know why it made me feel safe. But it also put me at ease because you were right next to me."
She sighed as she looked at her hands which were in her lap. "I'm sorry." He sighed as he moved but only to stand and pick her up. "Eh?!" "We aren't traveling today?" "What?" "You heard me. You need sleep, you didn't sleep at all that's easy to tell." She squirmed for a moment before he tightened his hold. "I won't touch you, i just want you to sleep." She sighed before she settled down against him. And without realizing it she had fallen asleep in his arms.
Carefully he laid her in his bed and turns so that he could leave only to feel her hand grip his shirt. He chuckled and carefully pulled away from her. Once he was free did he leave the house with every intention of heading to the market to re-stock their supplies. While he was gone Yuki had started tossing and turning. She was being plagued with nightmares. Nightmares in which link was dead, people she didn't know, were dead, or they changed to Link leaving her.
Upon the last one did she wake up with a scream. She looked around as she tried to control her breathing. Only to realize she was in Link's room and that she was completely alone. Upon that realization she broke down crying all over again thinking that he had finally left. And she couldn't figure out why that hurt her so bad. Link was just walking in when he heard the broken sobs and panicked. Dropping his bags he ran up the stairs heading right for his room. He yanked opened the door and what he saw made his heart shatter. Yuki was curled up in a ball clutching his pillow as she tried to muffle her broken sobs. Quickly making his way over to her, did he carefully pick her up and pull her into his embrace. She struggled before she heard someone shushing her. Peeking up she saw link and that only made her cry harder. "Yuki? Yuki shhhh what happened?" She said something but it was all jumbled together and he blinked confused.
"Okay, deep breaths slow down. Talk to me." The poor woman was now hysterical in his arms and he honestly felt awful. He didn't even know what to do. "I thought you left me. I thought you left because you were done with me." Her voice broke and his eyes widened "Yuki no! I would never just leave you. Where I go you go with. I'm not just gonna leave cause we had an argument. Shh it's okay." She sniffled and snuggled closer to him. He decided right there that from now on he would hold her whenever she had a nightmare. Hell he would hold her even if she wasn't having one. Seeing her like this broke something inside of him and he didn't like it. Eventually she told him the rest of the nightmare and he shuddered, the nightmares sounded awful. Slowly as to not startle her did he lay down bringing her with him. She blinked confused before she quickly snuggled closer to him. She wanted his warmth, the protection his arms promised her.
He rubbed her back as he tried to help her fall back asleep. "Sleep Yuki, it's okay. I'm here, I've got you. I won't let go. I won't leave. I promise." She nodded as his words put her troubled mind to rest. Yawning she closed her eyes and soon fell asleep to the sound of links breathing and heartbeat. He smiled once he heard her breathing even out into that of a deep sleep and covered them with a blanket. Feeling her snuggle even closer he couldn't help but chuckle. She was adorable, and beautiful. She seemed so peaceful when she was asleep. Not that she wasn't awake but when she slept it was like all her worries vanished. Placing a quick kiss to the top of her head he whispered a promise "I'm always going to keep you safe Yuki. I'm always going to be by your side. Now and for all of time." That seemed to have finally chased away the last of her worry and he wondered if she heard him in her sleep. It wasn't long before he joined her though. After all, he didn't sleep that well the night before. And with that the two slept the entire day and night away.
