The two were walking down a dirt path that led to what Link hoped was the sacred ground ruins, and from what the map was showing them, they seemed to have been heading in the right way. It was decided that Yuki would navigate since she had a better eye for detail then link did. As they got closer did the horses begin to fidget. Yuki looked up from the map and frowned as she scanned the area. "Link, be on your guard okay? I don't know exactly what's going on, but I also don't like how silent it is." Link nodded as he watched Yuki hand the slate to him. "What is it?" She motioned for him to be quiet as he took the slate.
Carefully watching her as she dismounted and suddenly aimed her bow which made him raise his eyebrows. "What are you doing?" He whispered and softly as he could. Yet she didn't reply, she just steadied her self, notched an arrow and released the arrow. Link was amazed at the amount of accuracy she had just shown only to be thrown into shock as her arrow hit its target and killed a orange bokoblin. She looked at him and rubbed the back of her head. "It's the only one, but I wasn't taking any chances." "Thank you." She shrugged "no reason to thank me. Besides, up ahead of where we stand now, is the sacred ground ruins."
Links eyes widened as he carefully dismounted Ena and patted Kiro's neck. "We'll be right back." And with that the two walked up the simple dirt path, both being extremely careful to not make to much noise, least they attract enemies. Looking around link saw a glowing spot and looked to Yuki who shrugged. "Go ahead, I'll keep you safe." Link nodded as he climbed up the stairs and walked into the glowing spot, his eyes widened as all of a sudden a memory returned to him. Yuki carefully kept an eye on him making sure his back was covered and occasionally checking around the entire area for monsters, thankfully it was still morning and most monsters wouldn't really be roaming around, not yet anyway.
While she waited for Link to come back from one of his trips down memory lane did she look to the sky. Honestly she was glad they had found one of his memories, it made things a bit more simple with at least one of them being able to remember something. After a few moments Link came back to his senses and shuddered which brought Yuki's attention to him. Worry was evident on her face as she placed a gentle hand on his back. He gave her a lopsided smile before he pulled her into a gentle embrace. She hesitated before she slowly returned his hug rubbing his back in soothing circles "you alright?"
"Mmm I'm fine. I remember when I was knighted by Zelda. You weren't there for that, but I heard them asking about you." She blinked "them?" He pulled back to look at her. "The other champions." Yuki nodded as she recalled what impa had told them. "Well at least we really did know each other." He laughed as he fixed her hair. "Very true, now, why don't we look for one of your memories?" Yuki frowned, she had no idea where to even begin with looking. "I guess we could, but honestly, where do we even start looking?" Link tapped his chin as he looked around. He shuddered and figured avoiding castle town would be smart, even though it was closer.
Yuki looked at him and crossed her arms "no." He blinked confused "you don't even know what I was gonna say." She placed her hand on her hip as she poked his chest. "You were gonna suggest castle town since it's closer. And I'm saying no. It's wise to avoid it. I don't care how close it is." Link felt himself stop breathing, how had she figured all of that out from a single glance and a shudder. She must have been sharp back then as well, either that or very good at reading his thought. Link sighed as he tried to think of where else he could take her, he couldn't go by much seeing as how most of the map was a complete and total blank. He frowned as a very vague part of his memory was back yet he still felt a bit clueless.
"Oh, we could try going to this place called Atinila. In the memory I just had I heard someone talking about how we needed to head there." Yuki blinked, the name sounded so familiar yet she couldn't quite grasp it. "Alright, let's head there then. Anything that can potentially help me remember I'll take." He smiled before grimacing as he heard something heading their way. Yuki grabbed him and pushed him behind a tree just as a stalker guardian arrived, just before it could stop her however did Link pull her aside and held her in front of him praying to the goddess that they wouldn't be found.
Yuki was stunned, where had that damn thing come from, she didn't see it earlier. Then again who knows how long those things took to patrol. Both held there breath before Yuki peeked around the tree much to Link's silent protest. She watched as the guardian looked around before she quickly ducked back behind the tree and in front of Link. She pressed a finger to her lips showing him to be silent as she slowly crept towards another tree, ducking behind that she waited 10 seconds before she motioned Link to follow her. Watching the way he walked he quickly made it to her as she looked over watching the guardian. Her eyes widened as it started glowing red and she shoved Link away, both of them just narrowly avoiding a blast from its laser.
Link fell behind the other tree with wide horror filled eyes. "Run." It was a soft demand and his eyes almost bugged out of his head. "What?" "I said run. That thing is aiming at us and we need to run." Cursing his luck he turned and ran making sure to stay as close to the trees as possible, hopefully the guardian couldn't fit through the narrow passage. Yuki ran behind him only looking back once to see the guardian was flashing between blue and red. And on instinct she stopped running turning to face the machine like creature. Link however wasn't aware of this. He thought Yuki was behind him the entire time.
So when he stopped to catch his breath he looked behind him expecting to see Yuki. And to his horror she was no where to be seen. "Yuki?!" He started heading back to find her when he saw her slowly making her way to him. His eyes wide with horror as he saw the guardian trying to follow through the tree, but it was so big that it couldn't fit. "Stay put." The guardian seemed to have frozen as Yuki spoke. An odd look crossed over both hers and links face. "What just happened?" Link said as he reached to grab Yuki's arm only to see the Guardian turning red again. Again Yuki spoke "do not touch him!" That seemed to have stopped the creature and it was almost like it was confused. "Yuki, we gotta run." She nodded and quickly he took her arm and they ran just barely managing to get away from the guardian.
Once they were far enough away did he pull her into his chest and hold her there for a few moments. "I have no idea what just happened but I'm so glad, I'm so glad it didn't hurt you." Yuki nodded as she carefully pulled away. "I don't know why it listened to me." "I don't either, but that was also a relief. Let's not do that again okay?" She giggled and nodded "next time, I promise I'll pay more attention." "No, we both will." She simply agreed as he took her hand leading her to the horses. Their next destination now decided, it was time to head to Atinila.
