A week had finally passed and Yuki was finishing packing her clothes that she would need for her month of living in Hyrule. She was nervous yet excited. She was never really out of her village except for when she went to visit Link or went on some errand with her mother. Even hunting, which she did with her father, was done relatively close to her home. Once she had the last of her clothes packed away into her bag did her dad open the door "you ready Yuki?" She looked over and nodded choosing to not speak. "Good, lets go, I packed your swords, and throwing knives, Kaito said he has a bow you can use since yours is currently on the verge of breaking."
Again Yuki nodded not really trusting her voice at the moment. She went over and hugged her mother who hugged her back just as tight "I'll see you real soon Yuki. In just a month you'll be home and Link will be here to learn as well." Yuki pulled back and nodded "I know, I'll be home soon." And with that her father hoisted her up onto the horse before he climbed up behind her "I shall return shortly." And with that the two were off. Since it was still pretty early her mother had decided she would stay behind and allow her father to take her to Hyrule.
After a while of traveling her father looked down at the young girl in front of him, it would be the first time in seven years that his little girl would be out of his sight for such a long time. He frowned but decided to speak "you'll be good right Yuki? You won't slack off from training? And you'll be respectful correct?" The little girl raised an elegant eyebrow at her father "really daddy? You know I'll be good, I'll mind my manners and help. And no I won't slack off with training." Her father laughed "I know I know. I'm just being paranoid. This is the first time you'll be gone for so long. If at any point you feel like you wanna come home don't hesitate okay?" Yuki simply nodded before she lapsed back into silence.
A few hours later the gates to castle town came into sight and Yuki was practically grinning with excitement. Once they arrived did Hiro carefully dismount the horse and carefully helped Yuki down. Only to see her get enveloped into a giant hug by a very excited link. "Yuki! You made it!" Yuki was laughing at this point as she returned her friends hug. "Of course I did silly. I said I would be here." Just then Links father walked over and shook Hiro's hand "I promise I'll take good care of her." "Thank you." He helped Kaito load everything into a carriage before he knelt down to face his daughter for the last time this month. "I shall miss you my little snowflake."
Yuki looked at her father and quickly hugged him "I'll miss you too. But we'll see each other again soon." Hiro Hugged Her a bit tighter before he looked to Link "I'll protect her, I promise." He nodded before speaking again, more to himself then anyone else. "Oh to hell with it." And before either kid could ask what he was talking about, they both soon found themselves being crushed in a giant hug "I'll see you both in a months time." He kissed his daughters forehead, patted Links head then stood up as he shook Kaito's hand. "I'll keep you updated Hiro." "Thank you." Once more he mounted his horse and looked down at his eldest child, before he gave the command to gallop and then he was gone.
"Well Yuki, are you ready to see our house?" Kaito asked as he smiled down at the little girl "yes Kaito." She smiled up at him, the sunny sky making her grey eyes seem almost blue. Kaito blinked and did a double take. When he looked again her eyes were back to those stormy grey colors "alright, let us head there then. But first" Yuki looked at him a bit confused "where's my hug little lady" this caused her to laugh as she walked forward to give him one. He knelt down and gave her a gentle hug "welcome to hyrule Yuki. I really hope you enjoy your month here." And then he released her and stood up slowly "thank you, Kaito." She smiled as Link took her hand "let's go daddy! I'm sure Yuki is hungry." And as if it was on cue did her stomach growl causing her to blush "oops" "did you not eat before leaving?" "Oh no, I had rice balls before while we were traveling but I guess it didn't fill me up." The two boys groaned. "Yuki that's not a meal." She looked confused "but I always eat small meals." This time Link groaned "Yuki, no. Seems I'll have to make sure you eat more." Yuki blushed as she looked at her feet.
"I'm sorry." "Nothing to apologize for, it's just what you're use to." She peeked up to see Link smiling at her as he led her to the carriage and helped her in before he got in with her. Kaito walked to the front and got on the horse and once again a command was given to trot. "So Yuki, you need a new bow right?" "Yes." "Alright I have one for you, we just need to make sure it's not to heavy on you alright?" "Yes, thank you Kaito." She then looked at link who was grinning at her "so daddy says he needs to see where you are before we do anything. But I have to start from scratch." He pouted a bit but Yuki nudged him "it's gonna be okay Link. I'll help you." He blushed but smiled "how old were you when you started?" She blinked before she tapped her chin "i was 5" Kaito who was listening felt his eyebrows raise into his hair and he groaned. He didn't realize how young the kids there had started.
"Oh, that's cool Yuki." She looked at him "daddy wanted me to wait till I was 6 but something made him change his mind. So I started earlier then most kids. Most kids in my home don't start till they're 10." Kaito immediately relaxed hearing most started at a normal age. He would have to ask Hiro what caused him to have Yuki start so early. "What's your favorite weapon?" Link asked her as he kept his eyes on her "I like katana's. So swords are my preferred weapon." Link nodded, as he looked over at the road "we'll be there soon." Yuki nodded as she laid her head on his shoulder "thank you." Link didn't know why she was thanking him but he didn't ask. He just squeezed her hand.
Some time later they arrived at the house and Link quickly separated from Yuki and climbed down before he helped her "there we go." He turned to his father and grinned "I'm gonna show her, her room." And with that he pulled Yuki inside. Both kids could hear Kaito laughing as he grabbed the two bags of clothes. He would return for the weapons in a moment. Link led Yuki to her room and proudly showed her around as they went. Upon arriving in her room did she stop and look around completely amazed. They had found a way to make it feel like her room back home "I hope you like it." Kaito said once he realized how silent Yuki was "I love it. Thank you Kaito, Link." She smiled at them, yet a small look of homesickness was present so Link hugged her "it's gonna be okay."
She nodded as Kaito put her bags down and left to get her weapons. He soon bought them back and placed them next to her clothes "I'll go get food, so you can unpack and make yourself at home." And with that he left. Yuki quickly went to start unpacking when she caught link looking at her twin daggers "those were the first knives I ever got."
Link blushed at having been caught "they're pretty." "I know." She stopped what she was doing and went over to them before she unclipped them from their spot and handed them to him "you can have them." Links eyes widened "a....are you sure?" "Yeah, I have another pair." She smiled "it's a sign of friendship." He blushed but put them in his pocket and hugged her "thank you."
She smiled at him as she pulled away and finished putting her clothes away. "Come on I'll show you around some more." She nodded and soon the two were outside walking around the house. So Yuki could familiarizas herself with the area. It wasn't long before Kaito returned with the food and found the two in front of a target he usually had set up for when he was practicing with the bow. Yuki was demonstrating to link how to properly hold and throw the daggers. He missed and frowned but Yuki smiled "I failed the first time as well. You just need to focus on your stance, not the target or you'll move." Link nodded and tried again this time hitting his mark. Which was an inch below Yuki's dagger.
His eyes widened and Yuki just grinned "you got it!" And with that she hugged him. Link grinned as he returned her hug and blushed when he heard clapping.
Both kids turned around to see Kaito was back with the food "that was impressive Link. Yuki, you did great with showing him. But what made you two start now?" Link blushed but then looked deadly serious "I want to protect her, so I asked her how to properly throw them." Yuki nodded "i was a bit worried to show him, but he really wanted to no." She suddenly looked afraid. Which surprised Kaito, the girl usually seemed so brave, but then he realized she might think he was angry "I'm not angry, I'm actually relieved to see this. You two get along so well i forget you guys only met a while ago." Yuki nodded slowly and Link just kept grinning.
"It also helps me see where we might really need to start with training Link." At this both kids grinned and it was soon agreed upon that Yuki would show him first, to see where he really needed help, Kaito would be supervising if he didn't have castle duty, and at the end of every week they would be tested. It would also allow Kaito to see where Yuki's skills where and what he could teach the young girl himself.
"Well lets go eat before the food goes cold." Both kids laughed as they ran inside to go clean up before they went to eat. While eating a schedule was worked out and Kaito made sure they would have time to play like normal kids. Once they finished Yuki got up and helped with clean up. Kaito however shooed them both out with the orders to go have fun and play, or train, whatever they preferred.
The two kids went to go train a bit more, Yuki going over some defense with him, and stances, while Kaito watched from the kitchen "Hylia, I don't know what you've planned for them, but I want them to always be happy."
As the day wore on they finally had enough with the defense and stance practice and decided they were gonna go walk around. Link didn't want Yuki to be in an area she wasn't familiar with, and he wanted her to feel at ease. Yuki held his hand as they continued exploring the area. Once she felt a bit more comfortable in her new surroundings did they return back to Kaito's. Yuki and Link did a few more throwing techniques before they headed inside for
The night. Both wondering what the next day would bring.
