It had been a week or so since Link and Yuki left their home in Hateno and set out to find the next divine beast. "Yuki?" "Yeah Link?" "Are you doing alright?" She looked over at him and smiled "I'm fine Link. Are you?" "Yeah I'm fine. I was just asking cause you kept looking around." Yuki laughed "taking everything in." He nods, he should be use to this but even after all this time he wasn't, they were heading towards the desert this time, they wanted to tackle the divine beast naboris before they went after Mahdoh. Reaching over he took her hand as he pulled her to his side. They were heading to a stable to finally grab their horses. She smiled over at him as she laced her fingers together with hers. "Someone's affectionate today." He laughed "With you, always."
She smiled as they continued walking, yet it wasn't long before their peaceful walk soon turned dangerous. Links eyes widened with horror and Yuki quickly looked in the direction he was staring at. With a curse she quickly pushed him forward as she saw not one but three guardians heading right for them. "Link, fun." He looked at her and gripped her hand "We run together." She nodded and they quickly took off running. Yuki looked back occasionally and noticed the guardians had kept chasing them, usually they would lose interest after a bit but these showed no sighs of giving up the chase. With a curse she urged herself to move faster. Link was slightly ahead of her at this point. She narrowed her eyes and debated on what to do before she finally made up her mind.
Slowing her own pace she made sure Link didn't notice and then broke off in the opposite direction, the guardians noticed this as Link was now further ahead and harder to see. She turned to face the enemy and drew her bow. What she was doing was risky, and she would be lucky if it didn't get her killed. Aiming the arrow at the creatures eye she finally released the arrow. Watching as it hit its mark she quickly notched and fired a second arrow causing the one to explode. She cursed as the other two were now closer and turned and ran. Both easily following after her. She ran in the direction opposite of the one link had taken. She couldn't afford for innocent people to get hurt, or for one of them to injure Link. He had an important role to play after all. Her life in eye eyes was extendable.
She didn't see herself as important and even if she was afraid of death, she couldn't sit there and let these things do as they pleased. As she ran she noticed a cliff in the distance and her heart dropped into her stomach. She was now at a dead end. "Little one!" The voice yelled inside her head as Yuki skidded to a stop with no where left to run. She turned and once again fired two ancient arrows easily taking out the second. But the last one had charged up enough and shot the laser right at her. Her grey eyes widened in horror as it hit her in stomach. She spat up some blood and realized she didn't have enough time or arrows to effectively kill the third one. "Little one! You need to escape now!" Yuki grumbled as she knew she needed to escape. Yet that was almost impossible now. She was stuck and now bleeding out from her stomach. She mumbled an apology to Link for leaving him and without thinking she leaned backwards falling off the cliff and right into the water below.
Link had kept running when he realized he couldn't hear a second pair of foot steps and froze. With a nagging feeling in his stomach he turned and paled. Yuki wasn't behind him, hell she wasn't even in his sight. He ran over to the stable owner and quickly got his horse. Not even waiting he jumped right on her back and went back the way he came. Again, he didn't see Yuki anywhere, however he did see a destroyed guardian so following his gut he ran the way he believed she had taken. And how right he was to do that. Because not far ahead he was another destroyed guardian and smirked, if she was able to take out those two she probably killed the third one and would be on her way back to him yet a nagging feeling in his gut told him otherwise.
He went till he reached the cliff but didn't see another guardian, he didn't even see Yuki, all he saw was blood, and no it wasn't a little bit of blood, it was a lot. With a horrified cry he dismounted his horse and ran over to the spot. Falling to his knees he realized it was Yuki's blood and dread filled his entire being. He looked below hoping to see if she was at least on a ledge below. But instead he saw nothing. Nothing to show she was alright, or even around. And for the first time in a long while he broke down and cried. The only woman he loved was now possibly dead and he didn't know how to cope with it. He sat at the edge of the cliff for a while ignoring the fact that it had now started raining.
It wasn't until his horse nudged him that he finally stood. He refused to believe Yuki was dead though. She was to smart to have died, he could only hope she swam to shore and they would meet up somewhere on the road. With that in mind he turned and mounted Ava and took off once again. He was determined to find his missing lover, and his best friend. He didn't realize how much he relied on her, how her very presence made everything more bearable. He knew where to go but Yuki was always able to notice the smaller things, notice which path may be faster, less filled with monsters, she knew what was safe and what wasn't, she knew the layout better then anyone. It was like it was a second nature to her.
He sighed and with a shake of his head he turned his thoughts to where he should look. It didn't take long before he finally decided to continue to head towards the desert. If he knew Yuki, and he did, he realized she would probably head to their original destination instead of trying to backtrack and find him. With a gentle tug on the reigns he urged Ava to head right for the path that would lead to the desert. Unbeknownst to him Yuki was found a bit further away laying on the grass near a stable. She had woken just enough pull herself out of the icy cold water and eventually collapsed from blood loss and over exertion.
