The Missing Goddess

The incomplete promise

The little boy who had been spying on Link and Yuki ran all the way up the path to Yuki's house and banged on the door "Mrs.Alexa!" He yelled as he waited for the door to open "Mrs.Alexa it's Gai! You need to open the door I need to tell you something!" Just as he finished yelling the door opened and instead of it being Yuki's mom it was links dad who had a frown on his face "young man were you not aware of the baby sleeping in this house?" He crossed his arms and Gai gulped as he took a step back only to hear the screaming and crying Saya "uh oh. I forgot...." he looked nervous until He saw Alexa coming to the door holding her "what is it Gai."
He looked at Saya then at Alexa "Yuki and that boy, they formed a bond!" Alexa's eyes widened a bit "and you came here screaming about that why?" She was suddenly annoyed realizing that this child had been following Hers "and his name is Link." "Well Yuki was meant to be my partner." Gai spoke harshly which earned him a few dark glares. But before anyone could say anything Yuki snapped herself "and why would I be your partner? You're rude and bossy and we don't get along. We can't even work together long enough to hit any of our targets! And since when was it a crime to make a promise to a friend!"
Link was glaring at the boy. Already it was clear he didn't like the boy as he took a defensive stance in front of Yuki "you spied on us." He accused "So what if I did. You two did something you shouldn't have." Link continued to glare until Yuki placed a hand on his shoulder "it's fine. We did nothing wrong, the formal bond, the complete one can't be done till we're of age anyway. We made a harmless promise." "Exactly." Hiro suddenly spoke as he crossed his arms at Gai "and I won't have my daughter paired up with an arrogant child. Now go home before I get your father."
Gai gulped realizing that no one was gonna take his side and ran. But not before he promised that he would steal Yuki away from link. "I'm sorry about that link, I should have warned you about him." Yuki sighed as she looked at the sky "it's not your fault Yuki, he shouldn't have followed us and made such weird accusations." Yuki nodded as link took her hand and gently squeezed it "anyway let's go inside." Yuki looked at him with a smile and nodded "let's go." She led him inside while her mother tried to put Saya back down to sleep. "By the way lil ones what was this promise?" "We promised to protect each other and always be friends" link replied before Yuki could. Yuki smiled at him and her mother laughed "that's a wonderful promise."
Yuki and Link went to go wash their hands as her father announced that dinner was ready. They all sat together outside, Saya in her mothers arms, Hiro next to her, and Yuki and Link were on the other side of Kaito. "This is amazing Mrs.Alexa." "Thank you Link, but you can call me Alexa or mom whichever is preferred by you." Link looked at Yuki and she nodded showing she was indeed okay with this. "Thank you." Alexa smiled as she watched Yuki finish her food "alright, so it's been decided in a weeks time Yuki will be staying with you in hyrule as you two learn to work together. After that you'll be here for a month to learn from us. Sound fair?" "Yes!" Link was excited he would be with Yuki for an entire two months.
"How does that sound Yuki?" Kaito asked wanting to make sure the little girl was okay with this as well "that's fine with me sir. And it makes more sense then traveling back and forth every day to train." He nodded "call me Kaito or dad Yuki. With how close you are to my son I don't see a problem with it. And your dad doesn't either." Yuki nodded and soon she was nudging link "what is it Yuki?" She pointed up to the sky "oh wow! It's a full moon. It's so pretty" Yuki laughed as she saw how interested he was in it "how good is your knowledge with plants and the area's around you?" Link frowned "i know some plants but not a lot. As for surrounding area's I'm not sure." Yuki nodded "that's fine we'll learn together."
The parents watched the two of them with smiles as Kaito and Hiro started to clean up "you two play a bit longer then, it'll be time for Yuki to head to bed." Yuki nodded and so did Link "right cause we'll be leaving soon as well Link." The two looked a bit shocked as they scurried off to spend some time together "Yuki?" "Yeah?" "Why does Gai act like that?" Yuki sighed "I don't know actually. He's been like that since he failed his first knife throwing test that my father gave him." "What happened?" Yuki looked at link and sighed a darker look appearing in her Grey eyes "he threw his knife at the target but wasn't paying attention to me, he was trying to show off when the knife imbedded itself into my shoulder. I don't remember much. I remember feeling pain and my dad screaming, Gai was panicking and there was a lot of blood. From that day forth it was deemed that Gai and I would never be partners." Link looked horrified at the fact that Yuki was hurt at one point and he almost looked guilty "I'm sorry Yuki." She raised an eyebrow "Why are you sorry? It's not like you knew, we didn't even no each other back then."
"Because that wasn't fair to you, he also should paid more attention to a target then showing off." He pulled Yuki close to him as he finally saw the scar on her shoulder"when was this?" "A few months ago" he frowned even more "come on let's head back. Oh and Yuki? I'll keep you safe from now on" little did she know that he meant it, nor did she realize how serious he was. She nodded "thank you Link." Was the last thing she said as she gave him a hug before going inside for the night. Kaito looked at his son but didn't ask. He figured whatever had happened Link would tell him. "I promise, I'll protect her." Was all his dad heard as the two finally headed home
